Not so sure, I have a BMI > 25, Body Fat % > 18% and people think of me as not fat/overweight

yeah thats all relative hell i weigh 92kg now, and to look al lean mean and ripped i need to get down to 86k, Some people just have a heavy bone structure, Those machines at the gym and pharmacy say i need to wheigh something like 68kg, hell i was fighting judo tournemants in std 5 weighing 65 and i was skinny as hell. If i had to go down to 65 now i would look like the death warmed up.

I lost approx 5% of my body weight whilst training for IM and I now weigh what I did 25 years ago. :D

 

I reckon that my Body Fat % is somewhere in the region of 7 - 8.5%

get a scale that measure body fat %. I weigh 96.2 Kg's, 16.4% body fat, 57.4% body hydration.

Body fat and BMI are not 100% related so cant compare. BMI is influence by build, muscle mass, ect etc. I look like a stick insect and my BMI was at 24 for years, at a health survey at work they classed me overweight...then the rest of the office refused to participate. :D

 

True body fat is the best indicator, and the resistivity measurements by the gym equipment is a fair estimation but still not 100% correct, so don't take it too serious.

Body builders get theres down to about 3% for competitions, i was told that 12-18% for a active male was good and that under 8% it was hard for your body to fight off infections.

 

I got mine down to 6% a few years back for the body for life competition.

you're body fat is right when you feel good about yourself. You will allways be able to "improve" on your condition, but you get to a point where you are comfortable with what you look like, as well as your performance, whether on a bicycle, running etc.

 

If you get into the "numbers" game, then you might become like the body builder charnas. They start off rationally with the aim to improve strength and fitness. Then they inject some strange substance which messes with their head, so they end up with ugly muscles and veins popping out everywhere, and if you ask them, they'll still say that they want to gain another 3 kg's...

 

BMI is a joke. According to BMI, i classify as "obese".

I have one of these scales that measures body fat. I wonder how accurate it is. It does give consistent readings but I would like to compare it with something. Apparently if you get measured manually with calipers it is only as accurate as the person measuring it is skilled.

 

BTW, mine is around 15% and people keep asking me if I am sick
