hope he makes a strong comeback, and that he does not end up like some other highly talented Saffas that had a shot with an international team end up riding for a local team.

I can't figure out if it is just bad luck that makes our young roadies under achieve on the pro-continental ot pro-tour level. It is not as if there have not been opportunities - Kannemeyer, George, McLeod, now Augusteyn.

I'm not listing Lill, his ride with Pegasus never happened, hopes he gets a contract

And ol' Hunter is still flying the SA flag.

Also pity about Impey. Wonder where his future lies?

Impey is one I forgot about.

The problem for both him and Lill is that they are stuck in SA - they get no exposure over here.

Impey had a golden opportunity with Radioshack.

he had a hip operation, done in cape town, should be out for 6 months. his femur was crumbling and got a titanium plate cover.

Jeepers creepers! That's a bit scary, considering his age. So there's some truth is cycling not being great for the bones, and that one should do some weights work too?

Which he never made use of...of all the events he couldve made name for himself overseas...I think Lill deserves a chance cause he is a phenominal roadie

Never heard the reason. Why did impey only do 1 year for the shack? Don't they normally sign for at least 2?

Perhaps they gave him a 1 year contract because they were unsure how he would perform, plus they knew Lance would retire and did not know what the sponsorship picture would look like for the team.

Lance generated a lot of hype around the team, they are a bit out of sight presently, imo. They did not feature in the classics, and I think the grand tours will be a Schlek vs. Contador show, with a bit of Cavendish-Columbia on the transition stages.

I'm not sure if under achieve is the right word, keep in mind there are only a few saffas swimming riding in a very big POND and the under current competition for team selection is high and does not favour saffas.

JL had a hip replacement, due to a crash a couple years back. Caused lack of blood to the ball and it started crumbling. Same happened to Floyd Landis.

Impy had a 2 year contact but was "bought" out the second year to move to Pegasus. Lill, Jay T and Hunter were also caught out with Pegasus folding.
