Hi Charl

Editing is one thing and unless you are a serious photographer, i would not buy a mac straight away. To slap on some presets is no magic and neither is a bit of cloning etc here and there, when a computer becomes important is when you start to work in multy layer images, some of my landscapes is up to 1.5gig big!! Then my pc with 4gig RAM just chockes and that is not fun. I still use pc, but mac is on the shopping list. But for 20K I can now buy another probody or a L series lens, which will make me more money than a new pc. And yes, that price is for the 27 inch i5 Mac. Super computer and really a gem, but as I said unless you are a full time photographer that is editing award winning shots, you do not need a mac.

Yes it will be better and yes it might be faster, but for your wifes application you really do not need it.

I agree with Dewald, you don't need a R 20 k Mac.

I don't even do layers and other stuff, I try very little post editing, other than the HDR stuff.

The 21.5 inch i-Mac at R 10 500.00. is simply brilliant, the screen quality is great and it's simple to use, also bear in mind that Aperture 3 from the app. store will cost you around 700 ZAR, what is also cool are the various presets.

With Aperture you have option to link to facebook as well as flickr.

Spend the rest of the money on a use 24-105 mm F4

Let me know if you want the full size images. There was a guy named Grant also shooting at the tabletop from the other side of the jump with a remote flash. He was going to post the pics on Facebook. Apparently he knows you?

Man I miss the days I was shooting :(.. Just sold my 1.4x extender and next might be the rest of my gear

Don't do it man!! The best time is when I am shooting. Just started, but it allows me to "check out" and concentrate on my two of my favourite things, cycling and photography!

Hi Quick

Many of the images here are SLR, the Sony ones I would have mentioned.

I must say, the Sony is good, especially when you want quick picks and at places where SLR's are not allowed.

The SLR is streaks ahead when it comes to depth of field and good quality bokeh, the Sony also get's a bit noisy at high ISO.

I also noticed I can take an image in raw straight from the SLR and it needs very little done, with the Sony, the images require quite a bit of sharpening.
