I just had a word with a few of my mates who were already there from last nite. They wanted to do a warm up ride on part of the course today - no chance - it is pouring with rain in Swellendam at the moment. Apparently the camp site they stayed at last nite was flooded, i heard sumthing about them inflating lilo's and tieing it to the tree and sleeping on the lilo so they would not wash away.

 

As far as the course goes - i dont thing there will be a problem with an alternative route - on that pops to mind is an out and back course, the only catch is that u will have to climb more if you do and out and back course, basically climb both passes from both sides

 

If you going through bring dry clothes and towels, the weather should be good by 2morro thats a given, but the flooding there at the moment is whats the probem.

I just spoke to my spies in Montagu.  Apparently the bridge on the way out of Montagu is in danger of being flooded, so the road to Ashton has been closed (through the liitle tunnel), but they expect the water level to drop!  So it still seems OK and it is much better than the flood a couple of years back.  I am waiting for an update and will let you know as soon as I get a call...
