Will Andy Schleck ever win anything?

This year's tour is gonna be an interesting one. If Andy can TT a bit better, think he is in for a good shot at a TdF win. He just has to want it with everything. He is still young so has many years left but if he wants to be seen as a serious TdF contender, he better do something soon. I am an Armstrong fan and I believe that if Andy gets that fighting spirit mentioned earlier in this forum, he will be better than LA. Actually, I think Frank is more of a fighter but hey, Andy is the one they put up for wins so Andy it will be.

Andy doesnt have the Kahuna's to perform good consistently in the tdf.

Although he's a superb climber, Contador is just that much better ( that may piss a few people off)

On a recent cyclingnews.com forum, a thread title called "The Andy Schleck Depreciation Thread" where contributors can criticise the young rider.

He'll most likely win the tour 1 more time (maybe twice max) but there's other riders that

just seem to want it more.

Until he really picks up his game in TT I dnt think he can win. His climbing is not strong enough to completely blow the opposition away. He must get that extra edge. Maybe Tommy Voeckler can teach him a few tricks. Now that guy has 'Kahunas', big ones. If he doesnt win it this year, Alberto will be back next year to prove a point. Did you see last year how nervous Andy looked back when him and Albert were duelling it out. Boy did AC psych Andy out.

By far, mostly, the good all-rounder wins Grand Tours...

Schleckie's TT is his only Achilles' heel. And, a little bit, looking over his shoulder for big Boetie.

I would say Vaughters is streets ahead of Bruyneel now when it comes to running a competent team, although Riis, I believe, is likely still one of the best around right now.

Agreed. But like when he was on the bike himself, Vaughters cannot bring the killer out in anyone.

Yeah, but you need the right riders as well I guess, Vaughters has collected a nice team and they compliment each other well, pretty much like the old Saxo Bank where I think Riis excelled. Bruyneel seems to be grabbing what he can and they dont necessarily compliment each other. Well, either that or he is unable to get them to work together.

That said, I also think the Schlecks have a very over inflated opinion of their worth, and it makes it difficult for a manager to control them, as it appears to me, they want to call the shots.

Obviously this is not conducive to a good working relationship and as we have seen with Riis and now Bruyneel.

He had an opportunity last year, but finished way off Andy

Cause Berto rode the Giro that same year and he was nursing an injury from a crash.. the 2011 Giro which was probably one of the toughest grand tours ever.

Now days people dont even try do both anymore. Contador still made top ten in the TDF and went for it a couple of times..

I think he showed a lot of character in the last tour.. having crashed 3 times and losing 2 minutes in the first week, fighting back not giving up.

Probably more than what you can say for Andy. He DNF'ed in 3 spring classic races this year, probably because he was cold.

'Berto kicked azzz in one of the most challenging Giro tours to date.

A top 10 finish was quite sublime for the following le Tour.

He's training very hard in his enforced break and his return during the Vuelta will be very intriguing.
