Guys, serious question.

Should I do the short ppa races? Hear you saying it will increase my seeding quicker than doing the longer races?

I used to have a good seeding back in 2007 but only got back on the bike (why did I get off as I'm loving it) this year doing the Knysna cycle tour 100km route and coming 3rd in my group by 2 seconds (was in the last group which made it difficult pulling all the way).

But in the end I want to be in a good group for the Argus cycle tour. I will do Die Burger and the 99er which are seeding events for the Argus but how do you get a good seeding for the two seeding events?

Thanks guys.

Those events will be better seeded if you do longer events.

PPA seeding has very little impact on that unless you have never done a seeded race.

Those are mostly the rides used for Cyclelabs' superseeding, the only way to get that up is to do better in the other events that are used by Cyclelab.

Well my only recent event is the Knysna Cycle Tour.

that doesnt make sense. At R800 per league entry, I can promise you that PPA want as many people as possible to ride league. Elite was normally A-E, and subvets A-F (iirc). I dont see why they would suddenly make elite ONLY a-B

Hi Fandacious! Long time no see.

According to Summer 2011 league general rules and regulations:

Category A - Elites and junior men - PPA seeding of A-C

Category A - Sub Vets - PPA seeding of A-D

Category B - Vets Men, Masters, Women - PPA seeding of A-E

Etc...

By Doing them, a good 99er will get you a good Die Burger, A good Die Burger will get you a good Argus, A good Argus will get you a good 99er. Other Big events like the Cape Cobra will have more of an impact than other events but still not very much.

Great!!!

SO for Die Burger my seeding might not be that great (will plead with them) but if I win my group or come in the top 5 my 99er will be easier as will be better seeded.

This elites thing: You pay R800 per year and then start in your own group? Maybe I should give that a try?

I saw some of the new ones at the Swellendam canola festival, mtb of course, dont look nice.

Anyway, i think it's a clever marketing idea of PPA, Now people will bring their road numbers to mtb events and mtb numbers to road events and everything will be confusing and people will have to pay R30 extra for their seeded temp. numbers.

Dude you can't blame PPA if you (general) do something stupid like that. What if you bring MTB shoes to a road race? Same - your fault :P

People complained (rightfully so I think) that road and MTB should be split, because obviously it is different. They've done that now. Good on PPA I think. And no, I don't work for them.

You gonna join the elite under 7 girls category? Or will they still be too fast for you?

According to the website my seeding is now a B. I assume it is for road.

I have no problem with my seeding, not even if they bump me to C or D. It is all relative.

The way I think of it is that pros in SA should be A. Western Cape Elites might make A, otherwise B. WC Subvets between C and D. And then down the ladder.

I think the seeding system is more good than bad. Obviously, and with everything in life, there will be flaws. So lets get rid of this horrible cold (I'm off my bike for two weeks!) and get those cranks turning and enjoy riding our bikes!

They have not done a clean split though, your MTB events still count towards your road seeding

So you hate all sprinters?!

They "wheelsuck" the whole way and just sprint past in the end.

I dispise sprinters then (just coz I don't have the legs)

Seriously, in the alphabet soup, it is just fair to do your work at the front of the group before even dreaming of taking a win.... just my opinion.
