Put your spare tube in a sock...

A.Protects tube against other items inside your pack.

B.Handy rag that can be used to wipe your hands after working on chain / sealant.

I put mine in a condom. You never know what could happen.

A little square piece of paper with your personal details, medical aid, emergency contact numbers for wife, etc. Keep it the size of a standard business card and laminate it. Keep it in your repairs bag or zipped up in the camelbak.

ICE ID band is probably a better option.

see you at the race don't let the profile fool you it is hard. o and before I forget for the k2c you need a extra pair of legs

Ahhh man - I knew I would need another set of legs lol. It was also suggested that I buy some pain killers for the 100km drool.gif

Laugh off the pump, take a couple of bombs rather. Always take lube, not as an optional. Chain suck after you ride through a river and your lube washes off going to turn your fun dial backwards.

Hey, I'm also a K2C "virgin". That painkillers seem like a super idea, some Myprodol would do the trick I guess

I have presta valves, but if you arent running tubeless, it would be a bad idea to have one of those adapter thingys to pump your wheels at a garage (i have one)

I see some folk that have duct tape around their seatposts, not a bad idea either.

where is the best place to get a reasonably priced cartridge? do the bike shops in SA stock these yet?

I bought my pepper spray at Sportsmans, came with strappy thingy that you can put around your arm or on handlebars....works well. Think I paid around R120-00 for it

For me, roll of insulation tape and some cable ties as well. With those you can fix just about everything. I think it was on my 2nd Trans years back my brake lever clamp around the handlebar broke about 15km before CP 2, so early in the race. Had to hold onto it for a while, but at CP 2 the insulation tape clamped that lever down tight and it stayed there the rest of the day.
