I have started riding this route after work. From the City centre, up Kloof Nek, across Table Mountain and then to Signal Hill and back.

Amazing ride. And right at our doorstep.

If anyone wants to join me, I ride it at least twice a week in the afternoons. (Road bikes only - otherwise it's way too easy :P ) 26km loop, 580m climb, +/- 70 minutes.

Super ride, most likely the best city road ride in the world. Especially since part of the road is closed to other traffic and the view is perfect in all directions. I normally only ride from Signal hill, across Kloofnek, up past the cable car station, to the end of the tar and back. (I'm scared of the much busier traffic from the city up towards Kloofnek.) It makes for a great 20km after-work ride. The only time I skip it is when the Southeaster is howling.

Only when the wind's not blowing, or if it's not raining, so for three weeks a year, yes..

Plus there is the fact that you need to remove your frontal lobe to join any of the cliques :D

Thank you - I feel much better about living in Jhb now he he he.

We do have the best weather in the world!

Nah man, the weather gods are confused lately - been having AWESOME weather! Rain on Friday, perfect weather Saturday, and rain again on Sunday.... Just a pity I couldn't get out on Saturday.

I can count on 1 hand the days i have not been able to ride due to the weather. Luckily for us, global warming has changed winters for us.

The other issue is “frozen b@lls” having to be thawed in boiling water due to the extreme cold in JHB. We fortunately do not suffer from that kind of self abuse. :P

Aaah, the Camps Bay side is also awesome! That windy section of Kloof Road / Weg through the forest is amazing!!!
