Hiya

Does anyone have any information on the morning swims at the Bellville Pools (Northern Suburbs, Cape Town).

Can any just go, or do you need to belong to a club or some organisation?

Is there someone I have to call?

Do you perhaps know what the charges are?

Im sure its a little early to be swimming there, but Im trying to get all the facts and ducks in a row, so if someone could advise me on how I could go about it, it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brent

Info says pool opens in September... give the number a call I am sure they will have info from you!

Thanks.

But this is for Ironman training. I believe they allow the pool to used, really early in the morning, by some group or individuals. I think its some special arrangement they have with the Pool management.

Whats nice is its a 50m length pool.

I'm also seriously considering doing half IM January 2012

I phoned a swimming coach yesterday. She trains groups in the Bellville pool from early October. Times 16h30-18h00, I did not ask her about costs, am thinking of asking her for a few lessons, then training on my own at the same pool.

That pool is 98% piss and 2% chlorine, rather join a gym. We use to play water hockey there when it was still 40% piss and 60% water and chlorine, and that was bad enough

What kind of training does she do? I.e. does she coach master's swimming at all?

One huge plus of living in warm water environs is we can swim a k or 2 in the sea in the mornings here, no worries about the wee percentage, and more fun than staring down at the black line for an hour. I imagine that's out of the question in CT?

I must admit that I do not know how "masters swimming" differs from any other kind, please help!

Hahaha, sorry... masters swimming is group swimming for people no longer in school. So essentially adult swim with a coach. Abilities range from beginner to experienced, and depending on that, you get grouped together in a lane. Here's an example: Masters_Swim_Club_oct.17_(3).doc
