I had to go to Copenhagen for work two weeks ago, and took a photo of this guy at a traffic light. Apparently it is quite common for dog owners there to ride with their dogs in the front of a bicycle like that.

Off topic>> That place is extremely cyclist friendly << Off Topic

Edit: It is a Boxer in the front of the bike.

See it quite often here, although its mostly smaller dogs sitting in a basket on the bars.

Dogs are much more integrated into everyday life in Europe than in SA.

Once I got on a train and sat at an empty seat and about 25 minutes later when I got up to get off stood on a German shepherd's tail, 2 of them had been sitting behind me with their owner the whole time under the seat, its tail strayed under my seat... I dunno who got the bigger fright (owner, me or the dog) when it howled in pain

Don't know what happened to him, but we had to take Ghost to the vet yesterday. He's torn his mouth (would post a pic of that, but it's kinda gross). He looked very apprehensive about being there...which was well-founded: he had to overnight it there. Two of my mates happened to be at the vet later and reported that he was a bit out of it, but in decent spirits…

Thanks, Fishy! He should be ready to come at 4. Angie just texted to say she's seen him again, and he's looking good.

He was hungry as anything last night! Ate everything he could get his paws on!

Well that is a very good good side and chicks dig scars so the other side won't be a problem.

Ah, thanks! The vet gushed a bit about him yesterday when I fetched him. Said he was such a "darling". Behaved himself. I was worried, because, to my knowledge, that was his first overnighter at the clinic.

Quick question to those with Labs and larger breed dogs

What do you guys feed your fur-kids to keep them healthy (weight down, etc.)

We've currently got Ming (Lab/Bull-Mastiff) on a diet. She's down 4kgs from 66 kgs four weeks ago.

The Vet reckons she should be about 45kg. She is overweight, but I believe this is a bit optimistic. Nonetheless we're going to try.Vet reckons it'll take 2 years to get her weight down.

On the contrary, her brother Congo (Staffie) gets fed exactly the same as her but is just skin, bone and muscle.

The Vet has given us special Hills diet food, but the problem is that it is R700 a 12kg bag. I have no problem if there is no other option.

We want the best for her and Congo.

It's a never ending battle flowta. Something about spayed bitches makes them food obsessed.

I have a border collie who was fat within 2 months of getting her from the spca. She is food obsessed and clever enough to get it / steal it from everywhere.

Hills lite seems to work if you can stop her eating other dogs food

Flowta, I currently have both my lab (puppy) and Ridgey on Eukanuba. Different food for the puppy still, but that works well thusfar.

Not much difference in price, though - and when I bought last time, they told me the price is going to increase like crazy shortly.  :cursing:

I feed them that - and I keep an eye on them to make sure they stay lean. And esp easy to see on the Ridgey - she is just one bundle of muscles. And to shoot down that rumour, she has been spayed.
