What is the general dislike for Cav' on the hub out of interest? Most riders I know admire him and you can't deny his talent, grit and results. He does back himself and believes that each sprint he enters he will win something very unbritish.

Is it a case of tall poppies, the fact he's a pom, arrogance (or belief) or that he is at the top of his game. Or is it something else?

Just curious.

You could ask the same question about the Schleck-brothers ^_^ (or LA)

Is it because of their angel-like dorky faces? or maybe because they firmly stick together as brothers (taking a stance, like Cav)?

Or is it simply a case of "can't love them, so I'll hate them instead"? :whistling:

Yes he takes a lot of criticism on the hub for sure, lots of people had the opinion that he would have abandoned by now to focus on the tour, yet most off the sprinters have done this and Cav is still there.

I like the guy but mainly just because he is so dam good at what he does. He is also proving loads of people wrong this year that said he can’t sprint without a lead-out train. Well he’s lead-out’s have been a mess but he still wins.

Agreed. Although as I said before, I think the Schlecks are also a law unto themselves, or at least think they are, they want to call all the shots and that cant work. I mean look at poor Cav, not my favorite athlete either, but he has almost been on the ground more than on the bike, he has been rolling around the deck, getting patched up, battling up the hills, getting patched up, just making the cut offs, getting patched up.......but he is still there and that has to count for something,

Also very frustrated with them at the moment. In my opinion I think Frank had the goods to cause an upset at this Giro and it would have been great for them to get a result like this.

It is very hard to commend on an injury like that but I really think it is the excuse he has been waiting for the whole time. He just never wanted to be there…

Big time talent wasting going on there and that is what is so disappointing.

Everybody knows I am a big Andy fan but they both need to start winning some races…don’t really care what they win but they need to start getting some results!!

They both are in danger of wasting the amazing talent that they have and if there is one thing I don’t like is a naturally gifted athlete that wastes that gift!!

At this stage I actually hope Bruyneel leaves Frank out of the tour team.

*** in the case of LA, he's disliked because of his lying about his cheating.

As for disliking CAV, just a case of jealousy that he is super quick AND look left at my profile picture!

Cav is phenomenal.

What a talent, although he can be a bit abrasive with his tweets.

The Schleckies. Hmmm... they seem to turn their cycling into a family affair, which is not cool.

But, hey, these are all awesome PROs.

The best of their generation.

Rain on the course now.

The pace is, apparently, frenetic.

A 12 man breakaway group barely got away and was sweeped up again by the peloton.

I didnt know there was a general dislike for him.

Personally I dont like brash, arrogant, coarse, presumptuous people in general and in my opinion he fills all those boxes.

..but, hey, your mileage can differ.

Today's stage parcourse, which suits Rodgriguez. :cursing:

The man in pink can definite swing some punches here today as it suits his explosive style.

It seems sprinters are the more brash type in general - they need to be opportunistic and oozing self confidence. But some do seem a tide winge bags / sour pusses like Tyler and Heinrich, and few seem to have any compliments about each other.

Although the Ferrari beat Cav a few episodes ago,. he quiet honorably admitted defeat by the faster man of the day.

Cavendish is one of the best sprinters of of this generation !!!

He is 27 and already has 20 Tour de france stages under his belt.

Eddy Merckx has 34 tages and retired at 33 ( i know one is a climber the other a sprinter ,but Cippo, zabel ,McEwan all have 12 stage wins)

Bottom line he will beat Merckx's record by the time he retires and I dont see anyone else in the near future who will

beat his tally .

Sprinters must be cocky, cheeky and arrogant to survive up there in the final 200 metres.

Fighting for space, launching when it is time, claiming and fighting for the wheel of one's leadout man.

Sprinter's temperament, I'd call it.

Robbie McEwan was a cocky f#*ker too!

Same with Robbie Hunter, I still like the guy. He's got an ambition to win. No one can't fault that.
