03:00pm Live pictures from Southampton seem to show the SuperSoppers at work again, though the steady drizzle continues unabated. The prospect of play looks to have diminished greatly, or so the tone of Mark Nicholas' voice on commentary had me believe. "Cricketers are optimists," he rather dubiously claims. And so we wait.

think we're looking at 1 point from this game

A t20 against the windies....I would say 1 point is a bonus

Another NR on the cards in Bristol.... that will make it 3 for the tournament thus far.

3/16

continuing on that, there could be 7/8 rained out games in the 45match league phase.

if NZ and PAK get games rained out against AFG then it would help us!

Inversely, we need to not have another one rained out, we need to go on an amazing winning streak from here on onwards to stand any chance...

one can dream, hey?

interestingly, if we beat AFG, then we will be on 1 win, 3 loss, 1 no result. Which is what Pakistan got from their first 5 games in 1992.

[glass half full]

If I ignore how we are currently playing, it is not inconceivable to think that we have the team to win our remaining 5 matches.

*That would put us on 11 points.

*I can see Eng and India comfortably ahead of that

*we need either of NZ or OZ to have a bit of wobble (and they would both have lost against RSA).

*Pakistan will be pakistan and not pitch up often enough.

*we end up tied with WIndies, and it comes down to Run-rate.

currently ours is -0,9 and the WIndies is +2 (thanks pakistan).

i don't see it happening. bookies have taken us from 10/1 to 50/1!

Honestly, we haven't looked anywhere near beating any side, so the bookies money is safe in that regard.

In the same breath, this World Cup is still wide open. Looking at how everyone else is playing and the unpredictability of the weather and shortened games I still believe there are 8 teams in with a chance of lifting the trophy.

I reckon there's a 95% chance it will be Eng, Ind or Aus. 5% chance someone else has a decent run and then wins the knockouts.

Pakistan win toss, choose to bowl to Aus. Looks like everyone wants to chase this world cup.

Not entirely sure what the best option is if there's inclement weather coming, and how you plan around that.

Khurram: "Good morning to all, here is the Weather report for today's match: 11°C, Wind NE at 16 km/h, 92% Humidity. Its cloudy here in Taunton but very less chance of rain & more chance of game, don't forget its England weather which is one minute down, next minute up. " My work here is done. Cut and paste is the future of live comms!

and they might even get bowled out before the 50 overs without getting 320....

what a come back as 400 seem likely at some stage.

great comeback after being 140/0 after 20 overs 350 was bare minimum.

Imam is taking his time, and the worm is falling below. 95/2 after 18
