Marizanne is just pure class. Laura will be so keen to convert those 70s to a fine century.

3/3 will make bubble living far easier, hey. They are deep into month 2 now.

4/4, another player of the match for Kapp.

They should be good for the semis now, although with all the close victories the nrr is not great.

Aus look well ahead of the rest though, you don't want to play them in the semis.

What we wouldn't give to see this kind of points table if our mens side play in a tournament.

Well done ladies! Just keep doing whatever is seemingly working for you!

um, you should take a look at the Test WC table quickly before we send out our reduced squada against Ban in the next hour.

SA men have often been at the top of a points table before going into the knock out phase.

seems like this one is going the same way.

South Africa: 1 Dean Elgar, 2 Sarel Erwee, 3 Kegan Petersen, 4 Temba Bavuma, 5 Ryan Rickleton, 6 Kyle Verreynne, 7 Wiaan Mulder, 8 Keshav Maharaj, 9 Simon Harmer, 10 Lizaad Williams, 11 Duanne Olivier

guess what we lost the toss, but are batting first for what it's worth

Good win in Durban. I wonder if SA has ever only bowled spinners in an innings before?

Remarkable 2nd innings... summarized completely in the stats of these two bowlers.

55 minutes of play on day 5 resulting in the loss of the last 7 wickets

Maharaj becomes our best Spin Bowler in terms of Test wickets taken. And by doing so he moved into the Top 10 of all SA Test Wicket Takers, which is a big achievement if you take into account our typical local pitch preparation that favours pace bowlers.

He might be about 50% through his career, so at best he might reach Kallis in terms of wickets. Top 5 is unlikely.

We could've played Lutho Sipamla ahead of Wiaan Mulder without affecting the out come I reckon. When I saw that we were batting first I thought a win for us might be likely. Largely due to how the Kingsmead pitch has been of late but also because of the quality of our spin twin. Maharaj and Harmer combined well throughout the match. Good contributions from several players and Elgar batted well on what was a difficult pitch to adjust to. Maharaj totally deserving of the MoM award.

14 wickets across the match for them as a pairing. They bowled beautifully. This was the opposite of the match against Sri Lanka that we lost a few years back but just as engrossing.

Not quite just yet, as my comment in bold shows. Kesh still needs another 30 wickets to surpass Hugh Tayfield as our leading test spinner. However it's a matter of when not if. He has been such a mainstay and a wonderful part of our bowling armoury of late that it's really hard not to see him achieve that. Just think of Elgar's comments prior to the India series earlier in the summer. And if we get round to talking about picking a spinner for our all time XI I think most people will go with Kesh. His batting makes a difference. Fulfilling a bowling allrounder job in our current set up much like Philander did.

Thanks for the correction, I just regurgitated what I read someone else posted online, apologies. Tayfield was waay before my time, so didn't even think about it.

ESPNCricinfo had this at the end of Day 4 :

"Keshav Maharaj talking to Mbangwa: Actually I did not know, lots of mates sending me messages and wishing me [on becoming the most-successful South African spinner]. It is overwhelming, bit more fitting if we can get the job done"

And this from Vernon seemed to affirm that.

Tayfield was before my time too. I just so happen to be something of a cricket tragic, as the Aussies might call me. So I know a fair bit of our cricketing history. However it seems there's a drive to be revisionist about it as CSA also put out a Facebook/Social Media post congratulating Maharaj on becoming our leading spinner. Almost as if those who played for us back in the Apartheid era records don't exist because they played in an era where our political system was morally wrong. Although that perhaps is a debate for another time.
