A gift from my wife.

Chronograph Newport Yacht Clubpost-5391-0-62827900-1398413401_thumb.jpg

Got this from my mom,

it was her fathers.

It has been in a box for the last 20 years.

My grandfather was wearing this when he got electrocuted and the strap melted into his arm hence no strap.

Funny thing is I took it out last night, shook it and it started working.

The watch has to be roughly 50 years old.post-5391-0-98422600-1398413556_thumb.jpg

Im looking at getting it restored,

I have contacted Seiko SA and waiting their response.

Does anyone know any guys who can help with the restoration?

Howdy

If you don't come right up in GP, I can recommend you speak to Chronos in CT - www.chronoswatchmakers.co.za.

They did a fantastic job on my watch and may be able to fix it or point you in the direction of someone who can.

Thanks Tom,

Actually stumbled across their site this morning.

IF they were in my area I would have gone there first.

I have a Seiko that I need some work done on. It's not as old as your one, but I tried to contact the Seiko agents and never received any response. Please let me know if you manage to get hold of anyone.

Nice, my father received an Omega Seamaster for his 21st birthday in 1963. Initials on the back etc. so very sentimental. I got it when he passed away (in 2001) and it wasn't working so well so it landed up in my drawer until late December last year when I decided to have it refurbished.

Off to the local Omega dealer who said they would send it of to the SA agents. Got a call two weeks later to say the guy was a little nervous to work on it and it would need to go off to the Omega factory in Switzerland for some proper TLC.

Got a call this morning to say it would be ready next week and they'd managed to find an original strap that the watch came with way back when (it's had an aftermarket strap for the last 30yrs). So, for a price tag of around R9K, I'm getting my old man's Seamaster back in it's 100% original state as refurbished by Omega. Pics to follow once I've collected it....

In the mean time, I'm wearing a Garmin fenix2...

Same story here. I have my old man's Seamaster DeVille would like to get it restored. Who to/where did you take the watch?

It's a watch shop in Bryanston, I'll get the details for you, they're at the office.

Much appreciated. Googled the local agents. Looks like it is the Swatch Group in Sandown. If you have a contact person that would be great.

Look at the new generation DeVille's... I want! at 265k Euro's not cheap though...
