94.7 Female Winner???

2nd and 3rd you can understand, D was the 1st batch for open seeded ladies and # racing tandems, but agree HH time is suspect.

Exactly, often happens with D group and I know of a faster lady time on a mixed tandem in #, but HH more than 20 minutes faster than the rest of her group - not likely.

Is it possible that a male rode with these ladies racetech chips?

Lots of things are possible but it's pretty mean to talk about cheating and dishonesty without any basis.

Hey - her surname is Karjiecker, that sounds like "car-jacker" to a pom, is it possible she stole a car halfway round and put her bike in the back?

:)

It takes 4-6wks to ratify the results, i'm sure they'll work out what happened during that time.

Its still a very good time for anyone starting in HH, male or Female, but just as a point of interest, do they do any checks on "suspect" times so far down in the cat's, personally I doubt it so unfortunately, its probably open to abuse.

I don't for one minute suggest the good lady did not do the time allocated to her, I certainly hope she did,.....as Spidy say's it great bragging rights, but I am wondering more if people actually cheat, by, say taking a short cut, jumping in a car etc........it happens a lot in running races, so I was just wondering......do the organizers do any kind of post race check.?

I'm merely asking the question.

I started in Y batch as I rode for charity, and I can honestly tell you that I lost a lot of time due to a very slow start, lots of 'traffic' due to the amount of batches that started ahead of us and it started to get quite warm out there.

It's just bizarre that a lady who can ride like that wouldn't be sponsored and riding elites.

Probably because i was seeing red, but i cant recall riding over a timing mat about halfway along the route as previous years.

She is a full 22minutes before the next person in group HH...

...maybe she deserves the win!!!

Based on what? The time on the result sheet?

It's not greyhound racing at the track, there are tactics at play. Road racing is a team sport, well done to these ladies and their respective times but they didn't race against the Elite ladies, finish en klaar!

4 years back Jo got the fastest time from D group and first lady in the open category.

As Spinnekop explained licensed riders aren't worried about time!

Being able to ride at a steady pace in D group is VERY different to RACING the women (e.g. a break of 4 women 20km into the race against a bunch of 30 to 60 B group riders).

Jo won the Elite ladies 2 years after that, so keep an eye on the names in a few years time!

Riding Elites = Easy. Buy a license.

Getting sponsored = Not so easy. Know people! <_<

Agreed, ride a 2h40m Cycle Challenge and you're sure to get sponsored.

Not really ;)

We've gone through this...

As I mentioned before riding a fast time does not mean you can RACE! Getting consistent top 5 or top 10 results will help, but there's a lot more to it!

There are very few spots available on Elite teams!

So either you need to know people or a fair amount of luck.

And rule number ONE for sponsorship is don't EXPECT stuff for free but see how you can help the team / brand forward!

No, being consistent in the results the whole time will get you sponsored meaning Top 10. What also can work is when you are an aggressive rider always in the breaks

Not really ;)
