I know someone was going to say this... hehe , as i am the financial manager i know that the company paid the boat 325 000!! We are Builders, and all the labour and materials was paid by the company.. Yes the disco is paid by the company, but still adds to his cost to company, which can be seen as an increase. I am the one getting the projects in and neg the figures. So neither of them can bull*&@t me. I know what the profits are ,and there was promises made. I am going for the knockout in round 1.lol

Are you supposed to be putting company information out in the public domain? I bet more than one person here knows you and what company you work for.

I don't know anyone! hehe maybe i must delete it?

Do what you like, all I know, is that if I was one of the directors of your company, and I stumbled upon this, I'd be somewhat less than impressed.

I agree, but if you slip them something extra the one year you have the resources to do so, it becomes a thing they will expect every year, whether it's in a contract or not.

That's why you put it in black and white. Don't say anything about bonuses, just pay them if you can. People won't expect a bonus but they will hope for one. There is a difference. If they complain, remind them that the doors are never locked behind them when they come in the mornings and they can leave whenever they like. ;)

That was funny. I've found 3 pumps on the trail this year. Does that mean i've had 3 bonuses?

I would say finding THREE pomps on the trail is fairly good goingblush.gif

Why is this reminding me of the stage race cost thread...oh ya, people winging about money. Here's my solution:

a) Work harder, become a director and enjoy the "good" life

B) Tell them to shove their job and go work somewhere else

Either way, be thankful that you have a job. Have a look at the unemployed hubbers thread before you complain about a bonus.

Agree here. The days of annual increase on x date and bonus paid in December are toast. Each industry is different, but as a business owner, you need to find the balance between retaining and rewarding loyal skilled staff by treating them fairly, honestly and paying them fairly for the work they do, and pandering to evey employee's hand outstretched plea.

Can't imagine there are too many companies around now that keep a bonus budget in place. More likely to incentivise throughout the year and pay accordingly.

Agreed. The guaranteed bonus has gone the way of the 13th checque. Some companies now allow you to put away a portion of your salary every month in order for you to get a 13th. Funny money, but it seems to keep the 8-5'ers happy.

When you signed the employment contract it most probably stated that you work for x per year. That's your salary, deal with it. A bonus is strictly optional.

Just better hope Your Directors are only good at Golf, and need their PA's to get on the Interwebs.

If that's the case, start buying some flowers for PA's. :D

So a quick question... I'm mostly-happily employed and haven't really been looking at the job market, but I still keep my eye out for "the right job". Is the job market really that flat, that people can't get jobs? Or are people's salary expectations the problem?

I think it depends on your qualifications. If you've got scarce skills that are in demand, then you're almost guaranteed work.

My personal experience as someone about to complete a Masters in mechanical engineering and with five years of previous work experience is that there is a lot of well-paid work out there.
