- the upgrade from my pink hypermarket invader to my cro-moly bike

- the upgrade from the cro-moly bike to a roadie-bike

- the upgrade from flat pedals to cleats on the roadie-bike

 

if 'faster' means more control on singletrack:

- the hardtail's fork upgrade to a rockshock sid

Wheel upgrades, more aero bike, lighter componments will help to make you go faster, but not FASTER. That is my personal experience

A good wheel set will make you go faster.

If it is lighter it brings down the weight of your bike, and considering that it is rolling weight it reduces the strain even more, less pedaling faster....
