The bike is been offered to me for 35k, which according toall the info i,ve got from the thread sounds more than decent.

I,ve just come back from test riding it and was very impressed!! BUT i,m alittle worried about the size, it is a xtra large but seemed alittle on the small side, my XTC xl feels more my size, i also rode my mates Stummpy straight after and that is also a extra large and that felt better also. ive heard Santa cruz make a xxl?? Im 6,3 and weigh 90kg, could the size be a concern?

Non taken I just believe in paying what something is really worth. I am no bargain hunter but this bike is only 4 months old and probably has under 1000km on it. This bike is worth just over R60k so to go and offer the guy half would not be right. R30k will be what a bike shop will give him they will add a margin of 30% to that so they will probably put it on the floor for R40-42k and sell it in the end for R39k

That's a load of bollocks if I've heard any....

I stick to my guns, a second hand, old model (2011 not 2012), R 30,000 is a good price - maybe R33,000 if it's actually your own specific dream bike and the bike you would planned to purchased new and you are ready to purchase and in a hurry.

But if you just happen to stumble over a good deal and had a budget of between R30k and R40k then R30,000 is the magic mark - take it or leave it.

Probikeshop has brand new SC Tallboy frames at 20% discount for R 22 800.Express DHL/UP Shipping and Duties it comes landed at about R26.5k, forks (6k), wheels(6k), X0/XT/XX/XTR Mix Gruppo around (9k) other bits (3k) and I bet you I could build this bike NEW for R50,000.....

So my R30k is spot on and fair.

You get a voucher for 20% of the frame's value, not a 20% discount from what I can see... That makes it R33k for the frame and VAT alone (not sure how their shipping costs work)... XX groupset does not cost R9k unless you have a seriously good secret to share with us.

R35k sounds like a fair deal for a bike like that (I personally wouldn't pay that for a bike - but that's purely because I don't have it, not because I don't want to!)... Saving R20k on a bike that's in as good a condition as you say sounds like a great idea! Put a Specialized sticker on it and hubbers will pay R10k more than that for the same specced bike so take the opinions on what something's worth with a small pinch of salt!

+1. I got mine about 2 weeks ago. Paid R23k for the frame. Used my own wheels and saddle and it was very close to R50k. R35 is a good price.

This is a great bike. I am 6,2 and the xl is perfect for me.

R35k is a steal...If you don't buy it someone else will and you'll end up very upset with yourself. As fir the sizing, sounds weird but you could check the sizing calculator on www.competitivecyclist.com

Ok, all fair and square! Took the SC back to my friend after the test day, great ride. Went for another ride the morning after on my hardtail, as i was pulling away thought i would drop the rear tyre pressure abit. I had such an incredible ride that morning, everything felt so in place

I was so stocked with my hardtail i had completely forgotten about the Santa Cruz.? I dont know now, still waiting for the Scalpel test run, but until then remaining very open minded.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Lets see what the new year brings in?
