Where is the Audax and how far is it?

This is the email I got from them:

"

Herewith is the Route for the abovementioned BRM.

The option exists for you to choose to ride the event in one of two formats.

Common to both formats is the outward and return aspects of the route.

That is, Salisbury House to the Crossroads R550/M61 at Kliprivier and return.

The first option is as described in the attachment:>> Henley on Klip>> 3 Rivers>>Heidelberg and return

via the R103 and R550 to the M61 Xrds.

The second option is to use the same route in reverse from the R550/M61 X rds.

That is; from the X Rds>>Heidelberg>>3 Rivers>>Henley on Klip>>back to the R550/M61 X rds.

The choice is yours. If you think you might like to exercise the second option please let me know.

I will send you the alternative Route Sheet.

However; here is the bonus; you can decide on the day which option you would like to take!

Cheers and safe riding."

The route is 200km long.

I have an entry available, part of a 4 man team. PM me if interested. (Seems I have a severe case of being a pansy.)

See also classifieds section, under Race Entries.

Cheers

Good luck to all those riding!

Just got off the phone with the people from Cape Parks (Kondomo Office)

They are allowing 4x4 vehicles with ground clearance of 190mm and diff lock to go through the kloof! Yes you heard right, none of the bridges washed away and vehicles can go from Patensie all the way though to Willomore! The only place where there is still significant water is at Smitskraal near Doodsklip, but you could wade through with a suitable 4x4.

I am now feeling much more optimistic about us doing the original route this year!

Its my first mtb event, arent they all like this? Elsewhere on the thread its said that if you can do half the distance reasonably ok in training, then you can survive TB.

You will never be fit enough, just do not try and race it. Do not go anaerobic if possible. If you have to walk some of the climbs then do just that. The goal is to finish in less than 24hrs.
