The Epic is a pisstake on MTB. If those trails were any more groomed you could take your road bike.

Oeer!!! I can think of a few epic trails last year that were not groomed, did u do the epic last year?

Wonder why no one has done it yet on a road bike - there's a challenage for you now?

Please stop wearing white lycra shorts on the trail. Its wrong on so many levels. And yes I fall in the freeride camp. What is the advantage of lycra? Serious question.

I am with you on the all white lycra pant.

Your serious question, well can't answer that but I can assure you that I wouldn't want to wear flapping pants and shirts on 130 km. races.

So in short all of them are tough guys at different levels, so why the need to constantly take a jibe at the lycra clad clan as softies without skill.

Cool post!

Let's compare apples with apples, I wanna add...

But to Dangle, a tough guy is one who has endurance and can deal with the layers of pain?

Nah I don't think he is saying that...if anything he is suggesting both sides have some toughness aspect to it...live and let live I say.

I mean let's take stabs at each other it's a laugh...but you must be able to receive as well.

Reading through some of the arguments this dude has had in the past, I don't think he rides much of anything.

Thanks.

I must say, I wish I had the nuts and skills of some of these freeride and downhill guys, I have much respect for what they do.

But ultimately endurance riding is often refereed to as being boring, lacking fun and needing no skill.

Sheesh man, I have much fun on my bike, whether it's a 20 k. stroll or an Attakwas.

I think its because it is quick wicking and dries quickly.

a lot of peoples mothers would disagree with you there.

Anton, I think you should invite rob-the-nob on something like the Attakwas, or maybe the Cape Pioneer and see how he goes? You should finish in the top 5, seeing that it is piss-easy, according to him...

This is pointless, coz I have seen DH riders riding lycra on tracks like Champery and Schladming doing some of the maddest tracks ever and then the guys at the Cape Epic also in lycra doing long endurance rides on short travel bikes!

Toughness is not being measured by what clothes you wear! I ride Lycra when I go XC, Trail shorts when I go AM and DH shorts when I go DH!

It's the way you ride that makes you who you are! Respect to the dude in lycra on his 29'er doing a 10m roadgap, and respect to the dude who does it in DH gear!

Ride to enjoy it, teach those with less skill what you know and learn from the ones better than you!
