Hi Hubbers

My colleague has a Specialised Prevail road helmet which she received as a gift - from the USA. The weekend at the Half Ironman, she took it out of the pod - what did she find? It was CRACKED down the middle.

She has never dropped it, she has never fallen and takes care of it, because of the value.

How do we get this replaced? Suggestions?

So you got a helmet from another country, which never came throught the specialized importer but yet you expect them to happily hand over a replacement with no invoice or anything?

I dont think you want customer service... more like a bent over rogering... you're asking a lot, and I dont know of any importers that would do this.

I think your best bet is to claim from the shipping insurance.

I probably would have done the same if I was the supplier. Its like importing a car, engine blow and you want the SA Maintenance plan to cover it....nah!

Well called them - we have just decided never to support or buy anything SPECIALISED! No customer service or support!

OK so lets hear how you explained the situation and what they said in return ?

I own a number of Specialized products and occasionally had to make use of warranty claims (obviously with proof of payment). The guys at Specialized went out of their way to sort me out immediately and get me back on my bike in no time. I agree with Tarmac that you are expecting the impossible, and that your rant at Specialized is ridiculous.

Its not my helmet - I just got frustrated for my colleagues part.

But surely there are guarantees - no matter where you buy a product? (just asking)

Firstly your spelling is off...............road not raod

Secondly I wouldn't help you either if you firstly never bought the helmet from my store and secondly never bought it in RSA. They should have however listened to all the facts and advised you accordingly even if the advice was to go speak to the USA as its effectively a grey import.

Unfortunately that is the world and country we live in. If I were you I would do as suggested above and send a mail to USA explaining what happened and see what they say. It really sucks coz those helmets are R2.5k new assuming its the s-works.

Anyone got frustrations/stress? lets take it out on this useless company helmet....

There are some changes taking place within the next week or so, you won't get much help this week.

You are welcome to PM. and I will try and speak to them once they are up and running.

On the flip side I have had a Prevail for about year, even crashed with it e few times, so it's very possible that she might have grounds for a warranty.
