its quite ironic. how for once someone takes the mature route, doesn't start getting into a internet debate, that will inevitably lead nowhere.

and now everyone is saying he must. whereas if he had started that way he would have been flamed.

big up to him

I'll be passing through Hout Bay, with two fellow Hub members, on my fiets tomorrow to assess the quality of their coffee.

It betta be good or else a new thread may emerge...

*grin*

Have you forgotten the first free coffee and muffins we went there for?

hmmmmm....... we even went back over Constantia Neck to Hout Bay for the coffee and muffins, and then had to go back over to get back to the bakkie.

Always worth a second visit to test the level of coffee and compare it to the first visit

:D - Yeah, but Gordon Ramsey (in my humble opinion of course) is a nit picking, overbearing, sensation seeking, foul mouthed, very unlikable and sad TV persona, and if he spoke to me like he appears to speak to some of his colleagues, I would have dented his already flat face with a heavy duty pan. So enough said about him.

I agree, most likely there is a little "sour grapes" involved, but if I read the story completely as someone not involved and very neutral, I cant help but feel, perhaps, just perhaps, he was a little hard done by.

Ditto for Jeremy Clarkson...... I would just use a old V8 Rover crankshaft to crack his noggin.

Or he is a great story teller - he could have written it just that way to keep it one sided and get the blood to boil by putting you in their shoes. Very clever

It's a consistency check... That was 2011.

My only comment here would be I swapped mails and I think calls with someone from Complete Cyclist a while back when looking at a new MTB - vaguely recall they are/were local agents for a Cube I was looking at.

I didn't end up doing business with them because I went Spesh Stumpy instead, but during my inquiries they were very responsive and helpful. You might say that;s just because I was a potential sale, but I have had a number of shops/sites who didn't give me good service even though I was a potential buyer.

They're not local to me - but I wouldn't hesitate to give them a try if I was in the area, or they had parts I needed based on my previous experience. Plus it'd earn me some more rule #58 karma ....

Oh, and no, I also don't like anyone else washing my wife ... ;)

I posted a rant about CC two days ago. It was accompanied by a photo of a pair of cranks installed out of alignment. I posted about 25% of the story which actually started months ago with fairly embarrassing levels of chaos on the shop's part but which they simply brushed off.

When it came to the mechanical work, however, the work was good.

My most recent experience by contrast was shocking, to be polite. Not only were the cranks skew but the original pristine Campag cable sheaths had been discarded and the BB nut teeth stripped. CC were prepared to fix their mess but insisted the BB problem was the result of me taking the bike elsewhere for repairs. Mike Hewan at CC went so far as to say, in so many words, that I was a liar when I told him the bike had last been worked on by them.

The reason for his obstinance is the colour of the grease in the BB.

In my business, if I saw one of my staff members messing up the way the mechanic at CC did with the cranks. the last thing I would do to the offended client would be to call him a liar.

But that's me, not the good folk at CC.

My bike now still doesn't have "Campagnolo Ultra Low Friction" cable sheaths which I supplied the shop to fit; the BB nut is still damaged but at least the cranks are 180 degrees apart.

From my experience with Mike that's as far as I'm going to get. And that will also be the last he will see of me at his shop. There are many good shops in Jhb and my custom will go elsewhere.

It's been a humiliating and surprising exercise dealing with these guys. The BH bikes (bought two) I bought are brilliant but I'll stick in future with a shop that treats me with mutual respect.

Why create a new hub name to create this topic. If he cant use his real one he is hiding something and not telling the whole story. And thats the only post he have, it like slapping someone and then run away and hide.

I thought that ranting here was something one does when you have tried everything else and not getting any results.

However this rant just looks like bad mouthing a bike shop, for no reason.

What did / does he want from the shop? an Appology? or someting for free? I do not understand the rant.....achieves nothing.

1- Some people here like to vent before they get all the facts. They will badmouth somebody before they have had the decency to speak to said person first to try and come to an amicable agreement.

2 - He got a public apology from CC

3 - He got coffee and a monster biscuit for free

4 - I don't understand the rant either, but I am sure the OP feels better after voicing his opinion.

I suppose it boils down to the fact that you will never be able to make everybody happy all of the time and some people are just ..... Lets leave it at that

It would appear as though this is his one and only post on this forum under the ISP Adder used.
