Just saw the newly launched Pioneer 'pedaling system'

At www.bikeradar.com

Another option within the marketplace

also saw it. interesting though. the more competitors the better. it will eventually force the prices to drop.

What does the power to max unit go for?

Anybody here use the ibike newton? Opinions?

My one mate brought one in and loaned it to another mate to compare with his PowerTap. He said you do a 5min calibration ride and then off you go. He said that after a 2 hour ride of using both side by side, the Newton only differed by 1-2 Watts. He said there was a lag for power jumps like a sudden sharp incline or a sprint but it did get up to speed soon enough. All in all, he was surprisingly impressed by the unit.

Power2Max still the best bang for buck.

Interesting to see Sky have opted for Stages. Can see the weight appeal but they've lost the individual leg differences that they have talked about for full analysis.

Keen to get one if they end up doing one for FSA.

Stages do alu cranks only. Aren't the alu FSA the heavy FSAs?

Mine are full carbon thingies. The alu FSA's are a bit average.

I'd imagine that sooner rather than later they'll either pick up a licensing contract with the bigger chainset guys who have top end carbon or licence out the design / tech to allow FSA to make directly.

the reason stages are only available for alu cranks are that the force/flex are determinable, however flex in a carbon crankset are not so easily measurable due to the fact that the flex cant be determined/arent the same everytime.

Interesting info

Above all else, Stages presents an interesting option.
