It's not a Makulu, but my little Zula definately punches above it's weight class. You can actually feel the DH spirit in the little guy.

Easy there Hairy, you don't want me to sned you to the naughty corner with CAAD4 and krl747

... as much as I love the classic single pivot morewood (I've owned 3)... the Makulu is the one praised for its suspension design.

...hmmm... who am I kididng, I love the shova, so I'll let it stay! hahaha!

The shova was one of the morewoods on my wishlist, I was rather bummed when they stopped making them. It was supposed to serve as my AM bike, but I had to settle for a cannondale in stead.

I think I may have to go shova hunting when the Dale gives up the ghost

I think the DW link / Maestro design is the best all round suspension design. As per the attached diagram(Maestro)

Regarding the GT i reckon the pivot above the bottom bracket just makes for awkward pedal feel as the bottom bracket moves rearward when the suspension compresses. Surely it must be important for for the relationship between saddle /bars and crank to remain constant at all times.? This system does not make sense to me.

hi their guys,

the makulu is fantastic design, however its very much the same as Gee Athertons commencal. both bikes using around a 40% - 45% sag on the back. pedals great like most dh bikes out there these days. The single pivot morewood izimu is also a fantastic simple and very smooth design.

but the best suspension design has to be the gt fury. floating BB, not attached to triangle A(front) or triangle B(rear),

it just hangs out with your cranks and brand new clipless shoes you just bought hahaha!!

i'm just a great fan of suspension designs and take great interest in it.

peace!

I reckon the best suspension design is the single pivot with rocker linkage to allow for various spring rates. Simple design as there is only one main pivot to worry about and the rocker can be designed to work with a particular shock design. Such as the Makulu , commencal, Foes , some newer santa cruz , honda (back in the day) and more

Damn that is one ghastly fugly bike.

Needs to get ground up and recycled to protect peoples eye balls

Morewoods rule...... always..... they work like abomb AND they look supa sexy

Its like some legend Italian furniture designer waves his magic wand over the frames right after they have got the stiffness and geometry just right!!

I like the DW design but the GT pedals like a deamon. The GT has an high pivot point and a hight pivot point has "almost the same" axel path as these mutli pivot bikes.thus good. The bottom bracketactually move foward and does not feel weard. the foward movement lengthenes the distance between the crank and rear axle which helps peadl movement
