Was hoping someone could ask Helen Zille during the race. Saw so many accidents over Boyes drive during the race, it's not ideal for a race like the Argus with so many novices taking part

At the rate they are going never!

I personally think Boyes is better.

That section of Main Road between the Corner and Kalk Bay was always chaos

The roadworks up to the end of Boyes Drive will be competed in around 2 months. The problem comes in when they move onto the next section which is between Kalk Bay and Clovelly, if that section doesn't get finished by next years Argus - a likely prospect, we may have to detour over Ou Kaapse Weg to get down to the Main Road in Fish Hoek.

well, Ou Kaapse is far more difficult but less windy, probably safer imo

Not less windy, it can really howl up there, but I agree it is somewhat safer. I think that the Argus would be awesome going over Ou Kaapse, but the weekend warriors will suffer.

Btw the Main Road is not any wider but the surface is excellent, much nicer for riding.

now that would make for an interesting ride hospital hill, wynberg hill, ou kaaps, smits, chappies and suikerbossie in one day

I think some extra hill climbing just got added to the LSDs for my winter training

That would be an awesome route

Would also split the bunches a lot earlier, ours only split at smits...

The answer to your question is "how long is a piece of string?". Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Ah, but, every piece of string has a definite length - even if we don't happen to know how long that is. The roadworks on the other hand, seem much closer to infinite to me ....
