Reason for asking, you get on an XC course next to Bryce and you realise you need to let go of the brakes.

Bryce gets next to Nino and he realises he needs to let go of the brakes.

Spoke to Burry on Tuesday evening and even he said that the log drop (that the V calls a child's playground) and the rock gardens are enough to scare the grit and enamel of anyones teeth, and the speed these guys do it at, well it just becomes that more challenging.

Sauser clocked 89 kmp/h down this drop on Wednesday.

Lol i can beleive that these guys are in a different league Dangle, Ill not compare myself to them that would just be wishfull thinking. I do like a technical challange though, and looking at that course i would love to try it and see what its like, that said still nursing a broken rib or three from the last dropoff i tried that i knew was beyond my capabilities :)

Yo Dangle ... what does the drop look like from the other side, because from this angle it just looks like a straight and simple grass bank going down

The course was flippen tech and like some pointed out, on a hardtail at speed a suicide mission for joe public.

It did make for great tv and drama but I have to agree with Eldron, a bit over the top.

You not going to say your kid can ride it 1000 times? Right?

It's grass bank, pretty bumpy, anyone can ride it, but the average downhill hubbing king would probably only reach 50 k's p/h.

The point I am trying to make, add some speed to something, and the risk level increases.

I often get asked by people how I like my car and the speed, my simple answer, when you get behind the wheel, you need to learn when and how to brake.

So in short ,these grootbek amateurs who keep screaming out for more technical, increase the risk level, and we speak again.

Dangle my six year old will pedal down there on his 20" fully rigid SS race bike while showing a peace sign with one hand and blowing kisses to the ladies on the side of the trail with the other. :whistling:

* the above stirring remark is very apt as it is Friday *

We'll see when Tokai gets a rebuild.. you are going to be jumping off that fence!!

100% agreed that to ride stuff normally out of reach of ave Joe, a skillset needs to be built up slowly. This is why Tokai will eventually be built back up to it's former hardcore glory, but with safety and development in mind.

We know the bikes can handle handle the abuse, but bodies are not factory tested and therefore mental strength is the untested variable. If you have time and a safe option to progress, you will!

I'll gladly get off the fence to come and swing a spade as well.

When is the next weekend build day on the cards?

Helping out will also give me an insight into trailbuilding, and the type of thinking that goes on behind the scene.

That XC track at Chrysallis Academy in 2003(or 2004, can't remember) is where I learned to suffer. No matter how wet and muddy, you kept on through the pain.

Now that track was fun and it is a real pity they no longer do that PPA ride there anymore .......

89? i can just barely reach those speeds on tar with nobblies

That's what was quoted, and that's my point exactly, it almost sounds unbelievable but that's the difference in skill level.

Soon. Sat 31 or Sunday 1 April (no joke!)

Indeed, an event through the wet season brings meaning to the misspelt name of "Come pain or shine!" :)
