I tried that one before, unfortunately you must be a "celebrity" or a pro or someone special. I don't know if you fall into any of these catagories, I definately don't. At the end of the day I did it on my own without any handouts cause I really wanted to do it instead of just talking about it.

 

Its a very cool race.You need to do it with a bunch of friends.The overnight is such a vibe.

You hire big army tents which take about 10 I think.Bedding included

Very affordable event

And run by the nicest cycling family event organisers I know

29'ers are best because only clever rich people ride them. I've also heard that there is a direct correlation between wheel circumference and the size of your c0ck. This is why you find so many monster truck drivers moonlighting as porn stars. Apparently Assos are designing a new 29'er specific bib with extra sag built into the crotch area.

Well, there's the rub. You really wanted to do it; I'm not that interested in doing it. So, for now I'm pretty happy talking about an event that is capturing a lot of attention at the moment.

Bwahahaha. I've been off the hub for a year and we're still having this argument.

 

Funny enough being female and on the smaller side of the bike range I initially was against even thinking of a 29er. After watching the girls races of late and especially the world cup I am starting to change my tune. I hear quite a few of them battle with fittings due to the smaller bikes so some are still on 26ers but overall it looks like the bigger wheel size really does have an advantage??

 

I have a feeling the 27.5 will suite the smaller bikers better and 29ers will reign over the taller people.

 

Will be interesting to come back to this thread in 10 - 20 years time and see what has reigned

From my perspective it appears that virtually all the top world cup women mountain bike racers have migrated over to 29ers, and from what I can tell, there are no jolly blonde giants among them. Most in fact are quite short. In this case, size doesn’t seem to matter, except when it comes to wheels. But while it seems overall that the 29er hardtail has also become the weapon of choice with the men, it’s also my impression that a lot of the top world cup men are still on 26″ bikes – Absalon comes to mind. Is that true, and if so, why would you think that is?

So far, that is true, although the new breed of men is on 29ers. The thing that makes it hard for a top World Cup racer to switch to a 29er is the extra weight, because by the time they’ve reached the top, they have all become weight weenies and never want to add any. The only way Nino Schurter and Florian Vogel race them is when they received carbon tubular rims and tubular Dugast 29er tires. And top World Cup racers have gotten used to a certain setup, and it has worked well for them. So in the case of a guy like Absalon, he hasn’t seen that he’s getting left behind on the descents, and he probably believes that he would climb better and be more nimble with the 26er.
