hey Bos, nice to see you posting again

Ja pel..Im not riding much at the moment, also less time as have a job that needs me to be on it all the time.

I got married at the end of last year and right now spending time with the wife comming to grips with the new life comes second to a hardcore training scedule.. theres plenty of time for that still

Riding my Mtb more again, enjoying the freedom, roadriding/training became so.. mm.. monotonous ?

so as for posting.. I dont know most of the folk on here anymore, just TnT, splat etc..It was always fun getting some reaction going. I'll be back ;)

Theresa Ralph second in Ladies, not too shabby for someone who has to fit in training between having a full time corporate day job.

The story: DG cut his side wall. They plugged it. Then caught up to leaders. Then plug came out. Lost time. Put in tube. Then a front flat.

From what I saw yesterday DG was all over the track hanging on to KE.When that happens you are going to make errors, take a bad line hit the bad stuff etc, etc.

Those light flimsey tyres are fine as long as you keep it clean. If it is rocky there will be sidewall cuts

*mini haai jek*

Maybe you're not training with new objectives or season goals, bos...

Setting new targets always gets my juices flowing as a roadie.

From twitter @TheOldCootBiker: Nice chat with KE. Offered to fly in Crossmark 29ers, but they are happy to stick with Ikon 29ers. Just unlucky cut. 6 days to go.

Last yr, Kevin broke his bones during stage 1.

This year, stage 1, a nasty cut on the tyres.

It's hard to chase the clock at this level...

Maxxis tyres of some sort

Ja, surely reliability wins over weight weenie tendencies ?

That looks like a Maxxis Ikon, I wonder if its the heavier Exo sidewall protected version...probably not.

thanks coach.. What Im saying is I'd rather not put extra stresses of long training hours on my first year of marriage, just a personal choice :)

Im not saying im not riding, Im just not racing that much.

Dit maak my sommer bef0k!

Cool, bos.

Training without racing objectives can be 'n bietjie baie yawn-yawn...

Don't lose more time.

Anything can happen on the log! Still 6 days to go.

By the looks of it KE and DG have pushed the limits on the weight side (again) with lighter tyres where CS and BS seemed to have opted for a safety-first approach after struggling for a few years with technical issues.

It feels like De Ja Vu with KE loosing a carbon rim a few years back, then riding a light weight rotor last year and this year they ended up losing 20 minutes due to lighter tyres.

To win this race you need to err on the side of caution.
