They've also obviously changed the design as the fork boot on previous lefty's protected the needle roller bearings and races.

On the classic Lefty the boot just protected the lower shaft, which are the inside races of the bearing, the needle roller bearing themselves sat higher, and one of the problem is that it was not a sealed unit, water can get in through a vent hole, so perhaps they have now re-engineered to make it a sealed unit.

Or maybe the C'dale guys just want to save weight and took it off for the 1hr30min race? :whistling:

They can always get a new one?

I know those boots are quite heavy, I had a super lightweight one, replaced it with a proper one and it was 100g or so heavier, but it did the job better.

If you havent been pulling the hood back to lube your rollers, you should be, on a regular basis

Looks like the 29 inch wheel has also given them more room to fit everything in and the outer leg looks like it is longer and so covers the internals further allowing for a simple seal... Or not :)

Wonder if you still have to do bearing resets?

more concerning is that there is one dics bolt missing

there's prolly 3 missing, most pros only run 3 out of 6 bolts - even Nico Vouilloz ran 3 bolts on his DH bike to save weight - or time for the mechanic?
