I would not advise while descending, pulling out or looking behind you. That would be a bit silly if you asked me!

Noob. Lucky you're in England.

Well that's what happens to wheel suckers! it's not a nice experience though.

She wasnt wheel sucking them, they had slowed down and she was busy coming through on the downhill. And why would you relieve yourself on a wheel sucker in any case?? Taking a social road ride is not the world champs

So are you and your wife mtbers? What was she doing on the road? What were you doing on the road?

Funny how you came to that conclusion! Comprehension not your big thing I take it. She was on her own and she was riding a road bike. What difference does it make what bike you ride where?

So why do you have to point out that they were "roadies" in your first post?

Don't worry. The rest of us got that Jakes meant they were road 'racing snake' types by the roadie description.

Interesting point is how few people on bicycles can look behind them safely without veering to the side they turn their heads to..

Yowzah. That booger must have had good velocity. A roadie with a good, healthy pair of lungs.

Sounds like an accident to me, they probably didn't know that she was even there, occupational hazard of riding on the road in winter, I always say better out than in.

Kinda glad this topic came up.

Thought it was just me, that needed to clear my nose. I do make sure no one is in range when I cant any more, but its just so embarrassing.

To the original poster, sorry that your wife got sprayed, it was wrong of that person to not have first checked, that no one was behind.

Most likely. That or a stray gust of wind could have changed the trajectory of the missile.

Either way, for the OP to go off like a cannon on a public forum seems like seriously poor form.

I have that irritating thing of my sinus deciding that on a ride is a good time to clear itself out. When I 'let loose', I either pull out of the bunch or make sure that no one is behind me (or at least close enough to be affected).

I have been snotted on before - deal with it. It is part of the 'risks' involved when cycling - I always thank the guy for the shower when I get hit. Makes him take note for next time (hopefully).

Seeing that common sense seems to have died out, we should have an unwritten rule about this. I move out the "bondel", and even lean down so the following car/s, motorbikes, etc have less chance of being sprayed.

Sorry, I never could grasp the idea of a snot lappie in my pocket, eeeuuuu.
