And when it arrives there is something wrong with the order or it's faulty and then you have to wait days again for the problem to be rectified. I am very impatient if I want something I would rather pay a little extra and receive it immediately

sure, i understand... the problem is you cant always find the things you want at the LBS... and if you do, they rip you a 2nd ring for the GOOD stuff....

Yeah fair enough, it does make more sense to shop online but for someone like myself who has only been cycling for about 3 years I would rather go to my LBS to have my bikes worked on etc and find it more beneficial to use them with peace of mind that my bikes are good for the next ride.

Bike shops no longer seem to cater for poor folk such as myself who run a mix of components and do not have thick wallets!

Buying online is a lot easier without dealing with all the BS that you usually get when you go into the LBS.

And you have to do the research prior to making the purchase because the supplier won't take it back because you didn't know.... which ultimately makes you more knowledgeable about your equipment.

I do most of my shopping (for pretty much everything except food and clothes) online or through non-retail channels.

Prices are better, they have exactly what I want and I can easily find it, I don't have to deal with rude, indifferent and/or useless sales people, I don't have to stand in queues, I don't have to deal with broken credit card machines, I don't have to drive anywhere, I don't have to find parking, I don't have to deal with car guards etc.

I will normally go into or contact my LBS to query availability and price before buying online. Most of the time I'm forced to buy online because the LBS and sometimes even the distributor does not have stock. 90% of the time it is due to stock availability.

only thing with onlline is sizing... Just been onto CWC looking at some winter goodies - and they have some nice stuff I want - BUT I'm never sure on correct size...

It's even more fun to walk into a store, lay down some cash, and walk out with your new toys. I hate waiting for days or weeks for stuff to arrive.

Me opposite - if I want it quickly online generally the way to go... Click click and one max 2 days later ding dong. I have gone weeks before when I've intended to pop into the LBS for something and never manage to get there either no time or something better to do.... That said, sometimes, when time is my friend, its always nice to browse, touch, feel....
