Many cyclists have training and racing bikes - the SAS number board stays on the racing machine so it's less hassle on race day - this may be a reason, but does it matter anyway?

Scuse my ignince, but what are the different types of numbers one would put on a bike? Do some have numbers for a race only, and others have a year long one? and whats the diffs?

Good for IdeJongh, make a fair enough point, nothing windgat about it. A damn difficult event and fair play to those who took part, even those who didn't manage to finish. Those Epic stickers are hardly noticeable anyway, those making comments about it seem to care more than the guys who have the sticker.

Is ok if I wear my t-shirt? ... ;)

Yep go for it!

Amazing how the 'event' water bottles do not get a dishonourable mention.... 94.7, Nissan MTB series....

Make me wonder what type of envy the complainants suffer from!

I'm feeling a bit embarassed now . . .

I deliberatley left my 94.7 50km MTB race number on my mountain bike when I rode the 100km 94.7 road ride on the same MTBike (but with semi-slicks) the next day.

I don't have anything to cut the board off when cleaning my bike so sometimes I do ride the next week with it still on.

Hey? No knife, scissors, nail clipper, lighter, side cutters, sheers, file, screw driver, butter knife etc???? Yikes

If i completed an Epic i would also want to keep my sticker. Most Epic bikes iv'e seen the sticker is on the top tube so its not really exposed as bragging rights. Number boards is different but some riders just leave them on rather than waste cable ties by removing them all the time

Choosing a numberboard to put on for a training ride, is like choosing what to wear on a night out. It's no laughing matter.

Maybe I should go with this one next training ride

That way I'll be allowed to push up hills

All my number boards, medals, stickers, etc go on my garage wall. I don't feel the need to carry them on my bike any more than I need to. However, each to his own. If you want to ride around 3 years after you have completed the Epic with a tatty sticker stuck on your bike, by all means.
