What does it mean of the beans are unpredictable and don't offer the same results day after day?

Not so much unpredictable once I figured it out but so different to all the other beans I have used. Bottom line was I found the taste harsh.

help help....still battling getting a grinder. any suggestions for R1000-R1500.

Seems there is nothing out there. The rocky is out of my budget at this point, but I won't be grinding espresso, just for aeropress

I have an oldish Krupps I no longer use. Just don't have the heart to bin it. I see you are in Gauteng. If you can collect it you can have it. PM me.

For real? How much do you want for it?

What is the general view on precision filter baskets and shower screens? Checked footage of both of them in action and the water flow seems to be far more consistent and evenly spread.

I have a couple of VST baskets - can't taste the difference to using my original baskets....and they are supposed to be the best money can buy.... maybe I am just not a good enough barista to notice the difference, but that seems to be the general www consensus too - good if you have to replace something that's damaged, but not really a taste upgrade.

NOW - cleaning your existing showerhead and baskets properly DOES make a difference... and once dirty, they are hard to clean well :)

Nope - I USED to be a lazy cleaner.... after sweating and scrubbing for at least an hour once or twice to clean a basket, pf and shower screen - I have learned..... admittedly the hard way on this... and I have now got an ultrasonic cleaner too - which helps, but is not the be all and end all of cleaning - much easier to do a decent job regularly - kind of therapeutic in a way...

Man all this cleaning etc makes me scared of these auto's. My Pavoni is super easy, loosen one nut and press lever all the way down and bobs your mothers brother, out comes the screen.

I still want an auto tho and scan the Gum all day hoping to find a bargain!

Rouxtjie - Check out the Porlex hand grinder as well, great for Aeropress and folds up to travel.

The Krupps grinds more than fine enough to choke my Oscar, but it's slow and inconsistent and clumpy.

Think the Porlex would be more even and less clumpy but others could advise.

What is an ultrasonic cleaner?

Basically a tub of cleaning fluid that vibrates at very high frequency - helps loosen dirt - nice toy for cleaning certain things
