"A popular event that offers three routes/distances in Grabouw Forest. The 10 km route is aimed at beginners and youngsters (grandparents also welcome!), while experienced MTB riders can tackle the challenging 50 km endurance event. This route requires technical experience to handle the fine single track, many jeep track climbs and exhilarating descents.

Don’t feel like doing all those climbs? Then the 25 km route is just right for you! Be warned, the two longer routes both include some long, steady climbs, especially in the first half, but the stunning views make up for the sweat. The single track sections will still have you raving about them weeks later."

Be warned is putting it lightly :D this is awesome race that will test your technical ability and maneuverability between plenty of rocks and fallen forestry on windy singletrack to the max! Weight weenies, leave your tubeless ready, sidewall-flimsy tires at home and opt for the UST version! wink.png

Looking forward to it already! thumbup1.gif

Last years rout profile, not sure if there are any changes to this years route:

This is the only PPA race I try never to miss. It is a great route along a scenic trail with enough good ST to made dirt roadies cry fire their mommies on the 50km loop.

The le mans style start is fun too.

For the family the venue its also good with a nice big sports field for the kids to run crazy on.

I am 99.9% sure I will be on the SS so look out for a sand coloured on one inbred.

last year was cool, except the front runners of the short ran into the back markers of the long in no time, got stuck behind some people who refused to move over on the long single track.

have to give it a miss this year, doing the houwhoek mtb, but will come by after for some more riding.

No it was cold & wet but awesome!

It only rained a bit while we were waiting for the running start.

Haha, I meant cool not in the sense of the weather.

But just after the long guys left it started raining a bit harder.

I remember seeing a puddle, and I've ridden there before so I though I'll speed up to get through, and it was hecticly deep. almost did a forward flip

Entered for the 50km. This is always a fun event.

Lots of rain predicted for tomorrow but Friday and Saturday looks dry and Grabouw drains very quickly so we should have lots of fun!

It should be quite muddy thanks to the rain predicted for tonight and tomorrow, generally grabouw doesnt drain too well, so im pre-empting by installing new breakpads for this race, bit of mud can wear them down in hours.

With all the rain, how will the route hold up?

Fear the weather not my friend, this route will remain a challenge with or without the addition of a couple of drops of water.

There will be water, there will be mud, there might be blood, tears or broken chains but most of all there will be smiles and silly grins!

A lot of the single track is on the Very rocky mountainside, what rain?
