I saw a dude ride into the back of a taxi recently on Hendrick Potgieter. I really thought the worst was going to happen but fortunately he was not going very fast and did not get hurt but he did admit afterwards he was not looking in front of him. We had a good chuckle afterwards.

Yip broek my carbon merida frame while riding with my 8 yrs old niece few years back. I was doing about 15km/hr and chatting away and idn't see the big rock in front of me.... Accidents lurk around the corner when you lest expect them......

You are so right. That is how I broke my hip.. Not paying attention. I hope the recovery goes as good as it can. Try get on the bike at gym as soon as you can!!

Oh boy, you're so right, Murphy can get you out of the blue! Been there, done that, several times. It looks like a really nasty fracture, hope it heals well. Do whatever the orthopod orders but then get physio help over and above that to ensure a good long term recovery to full function.
