So has any one used any of the china based services that will do custom designed & printed kit? I guess you have to pick and choose your supplier but a lot seem to do no minimum or low minimum (like 5 jerseys) and they are coming in from $8 and upwards.

Quite a few claim coolmax material and industry std pads.

http://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?SearchText=custom+cycle+jerseys&IndexArea=Products&fsb=y

At that price you could have a set for each day in your company / riding group livery and still save!

Just thinking about kit for next season and was researching the costs here and in the US / UK.

Any thoughts?

Cheers, I'll probably get it shipped via Aus' or the UK where it'll get labeled as a gift. Actually even the stuff I've bought OS and had sent directly from the UK of Germany I've never paid import duties, customs duties or VAT.

Been designing a few nice kits recently so might just throw the coin at a couple sets for friends and myself and see what they are like.

Just check sizing..their large & our large not always ed-zachary the same & the elasticky bits on the arms sometimes a bit toight!! (ask for some play in the sleeves)

If you go for black in the bibs, spec black material, not printed black, it is a little bit see through.

Quality not bad & decent chamois (well ours anyway) & at R 300 bib & shirt landed i ain't complaining.

Jeez, who was that using?

I'm also wanting to know, am wanting to get kit made for our club and at that price it would be great for us as students

unless thats before duties, because I got quoted $34 for bib plus top which is about R272 but with duties it will go up to R460

For sure, it'd be great to get some contacts if people have had decent service / product with OS manufacturers.

I think Alibaba had something like 500+ manufacturers, some low run, some big minimums. It' be great to know who's who without rolling the dice and hoping!

A few of us hubbers have bought from www.cycling-jersey.net.

It wasn't custom kit though.

We all got the kit we ordered and if I remember correct we were all happy.

Personally I've done about 1000km with that kit and have no complaints.

As am recently getting back into cycling, I bought some kit off ebay out of china (not custom) and found the quality to be good.

As mentioned about the size, XL is equivalent to L, so take one size bigger than you think.

Have bought 2 bib and jersey items similar price to what highlighted above and customs was no more then R30.

Items can take 35 days to arrive, they do come with a tracking number and both items arrived no problem via SAPO.

Have no complaints about the kit and no fading yet after repeated washes.

Here's a thought - buy it made in SOUTH AFRICA.

Am so sick and tired of hearing and reading about people buying crap from China because its so cheap - the crime, the economy in our country isn't going to change because of people buying everything they possibly can from overseas because its cheaper.

Yes things are more expensive because they are locally made, but they are generally of better quality and also it will help to keep many South African's in jobs. Everyone is so quick to buy things from overseas, but have any of you woken up to the fact that if you keep doing that there won't be a need to keep many people employed at all because everything will be shunted to overseas and hey you can just place your orders via email. No need to have an office and reps and staff in SA, so there go a whole lot more jobs.

That is a thought and I do where I don't feel that I'm being ripped off.

Most of the stuff I buy is made overseas and imported into SA where there is a massive price hike for no particular reason and then sold on. I hear you about items made in SA and supporting local industry but I'm not going to pay R1500 for exactly the same pair of Giordana shorts (made in the east) that I can get in the UK or US for R450. I'd rather take the difference and put it into an NGO or sponsor a child in school.

I'm from overseas and there are many companies in the UK, US and Australia selling allthe items I buy and making a healthy profit every day so why is it the case here that consumers are paying over the odds. South Africa is a very expensive place to live. My Grocery bill attests to that, it's about 3 times more expensive than Australia and is laughable when compared to the UK.

Example: If I buy a car made here why is it still wildly over priced compared to the rest of the world? Can't be import tax as it's made here. Why was my 3 year old Navara with 48K on the clock more expensive than a brand new one in the UK?

Custom kit as well, the prices are expensive here and minimums are too much for the guy who wants one or two jerseys. So I don't buy or I buy where I think it's a fair price.

Manufacturers and retailers must lobby the government to improve tax relief, reduce union shackles, gain concessions and the like to become competitive with overseas markets.

I've bought from http://www.mupicycling.com/ . The stock mostly team clothing, but they do have some interesting kit if you dig hard enough. They also have a custom kit designer tool which looks pretty cool. http://www.mupicycling.com/designer

Sizes are a bit funny, but they do provide size charts. The small shirt is too flappy for me, and the large pants are a little tight, but very comfortable otherwise.

Okay so the clothes looks good and the price even better, but how is the chamois?? Is it still quality or is it just a piece of spundge cut to size??
