It's hard to believe that this is California!!? Looks treacherous - I presume this is the bit that was cut out?

timM,

Northern California is pretty chilly.

I've seldom been there with temperatures more than 22 degrees - San Fran, Sacramento, etc.

Southern Cali. on the other hand, much warmer.

L A, San Diego, etc.

Yah, they had to prepare this route due to the snowfall.

In the end, it was moved South.

Team Sky on the rise...

Greg Henderson (Team Sky) sprinted to a win at the end of the Amgen Tour of California's 196.2km stage 3 from Auburn to Modesto on Tuesday. Juan José Haedo (Saxo Bank Sungard) finished second ahead of world champion Thor Hushovd (Team Garmin-Cervélo).

Team Sky lined up at the front of the race in the final kilometers with the goal of looking after overall race leader Ben Swift and setting up for the sprint finish. Swift's path was blocked near the line, but Henderson was in position to push for the win.

Watch Chris Froome today.

Going for the GC and riding stronger everyday. 2 Tough climbs with the last being to the finish at 9.4% and should take them 21 mintues to get up.

I wonder if Cavendish has been watching how impressive Team Sky have been.

Looks like they do have a lead out train he could use. I think he will be moving there next season.

Greg Henderson has won the third stage of the Tour of California and now shares the tour leader's yellow jersey with Sky teammate Ben Swift.

Henderson, lead-out man for Swift yesterday, kept his head in a chaotic sprint finish of the 196km stage from Auburn to Modesto to score a five hour, 14 minutes, 29 seconds win.

Swift won yesterday's 123km shortened stage after the perfect set-up from Henderson and the Sky team, and shares the yellow jersey with Henderson in 8hr 01min 31sec.

Jens Voight had an eina fall, I see on the highlights package.

Road rash though, no bones broken, it seems.

How's the road doing? When Jens falls, the road has Jens-rash...

Jens is 40 now, I think.

He looked bruised, man.

RadioShack's Chris Horner claimed his first ever Amgen Tour of California stage, taking the summit finish on Sierra Road with a solo attack halfway up the final ascent. It is Horner's first victory since his overall win in the 2010 Vuelta al Pais Vasco, and puts the American into the leader's yellow jersey.

There was a moment of silence at the start of this stage 4 to honour Wouter Weylandt in his passing over...

Cool!

Cant believe how Horner just rode Levi of his wheel. Is Levi not there yet with his tour preparations or was this always the case for Horner to go for Gold?? I dig is love for shoes, makes him not seem his age, all though his close on Jens's heels.

GREAT sprinting finish by Liquigas rider Sagan!

Chris Horner still leads G C by more than a min.

INDIVIDUAL TIME TRIAL NEXT

The race of truth.

The notorious Solvang Time Trial returns to grace the Amgen Tour of California after a one year absence. The 24 kilometre test is held in and around the quaint Danish town of Solvang. It is a short but challenging parcours that is well suited to a rider like RadioShack’s Levi Leipheimer, who won the stage and the event’s overall title on three occasions. The course is predominantly uphill on the way out as the riders pass over Ballard Canyon and descend back into the Solvang finish line.
