Friend of mine runs a venue off the Bronkhorstpruit Rd, kind of north of the N4 , opposite side of the highway from the Boschkop area ... They spotted a leopard yesterday evening walking down the road near their place, yikes :-)

Leopard are very good at living quite close to civilization and staying hidden most of the time; they seldom cause any problems unless chased, shot or trapped. Your friend is lucky to have such an awesome creature on his property. Very cool, unless he has dozens of lambs frolicking freely all over the place; it may become an issue then. I've spent thousands of hours in the bush and only ever had one brief sighting of a wild Leopard; your buddy is fortunate.

We see leopard often. There is a resident Leopard in every camp in Kruger. Seen one in Berg and Dal as well as Shingwedzi. Every leopard we spot is special.

Somebody spotted a leopard recently crossing the N1 about 30km morth of Kroonstad. Leopards frequent the hills running east to west through Pretoria and a friend of mine saw one going up Doreen Road in Roodepoort one morning early whilst cycling.

Fast food!

I do not know the road but it cosses the Suikerbos Rand. Apparently there is a large rock on the way up. It was sitting on the rock.

Brown Hyena ia also not uncommon in the hills crossing urban areas.

Bushcamp - we have monkeys and a few buck on the property, with a big electric fence around, and there have been nights where the monkeys are going hysterical and the buck are blowing and snorting. NOT a usual occurance. The leopard that was captured there last year was just a few plots down from us!! :)

Wonder how many times its been watching us mtbers from the bushes??!!! Hehehe

It was most likely a poacher checking his snares. Have you scouted for spoor.

Leopards are opportunist but also not stupid. They will leave a skinny cyclist alone.
