Imagine the all over body road rash if he came off dressed like that.

I think what Dangle is saying is that you miss the motivation for this as it has no 'economic' value but merely at times just to beat their mates at a club race/training session?

Still want to check what's in your water bottles ^_^

I would love a comment from the Colonel!! ....and his promotion to Brigadier....

He tweeted last night as a matter of fact: "To all the biscuits on THehub...I told you so!!, Thats all."

hahaha fair enough!

I don't care if lance doped, he was an incredible bike rider - everyone was on it, and yes some more than others. I don't hail him a miracle or return from Cancer legend - just a great rider that put cycling on the map in more ways than one

What other icons of modern times are known dopers? Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Bob Marley, Red Hot Chili Peppers... yes not performance enhancing but inspirational? Who knows...and who actually cares what they took.

Dude no one is here is that naive surely. But all I'm saying is this; basic economics;

How much according to you does one need to spend to get doped up? +/- R3-5k per quarter / per 6 months?

vs Prize money for racing vets - R1000 - R3000 per race??

Doesn't seem very lucrative to me.(not to mention the yet to be quantified effects on the body and their medical bills)

Clearly the doping has affected their sense of basic economics, so I say if they wanna be stoopid and cheat, well done to em.

It's not lucrative. It's a dick-swinging contest. These are the guys who turn a simple shop ride into a TT.

:whistling: did you notice that Rattlesnake picked up on my far more comprehensive explanation than your mere hinting .......

Notice how shocked I am that you have to spoon feed and that people can't engage their own brain cell to actually think about what is said.

I was more referring to the "I told you so's" who want the whole of twitterverse to know that the hubbers need to know they were right.

So you now saying on a open forum that (ex) Colonel who has stood by his claims since the beggining of time about LA is a doper cause he is vocal about LA and races in the SV/Vet category along with many other riders who get on a podium?? We all know his line is "I told you so" so no backing out of it now. Whenever you get the chance you attack him in some form or another, I bet you dont actually follow him on twitter either but you seem to know whenever he tweets something LA related. Who is the 1 with the issue or problem now and stalking who? If you have so much to say about him on here as he is no longer here and able to reply to you, why dont you phone him and tell him your views? I am more than sure he will be happy to take your call.

Dangle, I believe you are the 1 with personal issues here and instead of making radcial claims put your money where your mouth is and contact him direct? Would that be mainly thing to do? Yes I believe it is and not hide behind your little computer as king of the hub.

I know your reply to this will be a venomous attack as that is your style but maybe stand back and look at the fact that everyone is different, you have your personal views and beliefs and other people have theirs and that is what makes the world go round but to claim what you have now on a open forum I believe only can lead to a ugly mess off of here with a route that Im sure no one wants to go down.

Attack away.

Oh, you mean like the cannons that go off in bedfordview raceday on a saturday morning?

Guys honestly, carry on getting your knickers in a twist over this. My comment was merely that getting so p'd off about these "Hypocrites" (SV, thanks for the education) is utterly pointless. Obviously you okes have some kind of an inferiority complex about these "hypocrites always kicking ur a$$'s, and can't tolerate anyone trying to tone down the anger that you are feeling towards these "hypocrites" (thanks again for the education SV).

My comment was originally as a result of dangle's numerous comments on these "hypocrites"(did i say thanks before for the education SV??).... and allowing them to rile you up to that extent isn't worth while, because in the end they aren't really achieving anything great (stroke the ego and get bankrupt so that you can beat your mates)

Anyways, your extensive education seems to be far greater than mine, and my attempt to not allow myself to get infuriated by those darn "h-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e-s"- (btw thanks for the education swiss van) is utterly stoopid, because I too should be insensed that these doping HYPOCRITE amateurs are winning races. But sadly I don't care, and I will make sure that I don't voice my opinion amongst guys who clearly do care ALOT.

Yeah true....there was a reason he rode like that tho (not just showing off).

That tri is one of if not the oldest tri in the USA and in the good ole days participants used to comepete in speedo's only, for the bike and run. He was kind of celebrating those old days, nowadays he would be banned from racing like that...a bit ironic LOL

As much as people will love or hate him this is where I see Livestrong at.

I have seen quite a few individuals over the years with a yellow band on the arm.

My first question to them, "are you a cyclist ?"

I get this funny look and then a "no", after I refer to the Livestrong band , they tell me they bought it for cancer awareness.

So love it or hate it, thanks to those yellow bands, people across the globe have become more aware of cancer and how the disease can affect lives.

In the same way Juju has aligned himself to the youth? It's a crock of **** to justify the fleecing of a gullible public who are desperate to believe in something. Just look at the ancient Egyptians, a hawk shagged a ram and a goose and produced Amun.

+1 IMO there is only one thing worse than the forgive and forget attitude when it comes to dopers who get caught and then admit it, and thats when people treat them like new born hero's, ironic or hypocritical?

+0.5 Despite all the doping issues i always supported LA (not idolized) because i admired his determination and ability to make the events he participated in much more interesting than what they what they would have been. He sure made life on the hub more interesting. Like it or not he is a remarkable athlete and could teach a lot of us about determination and motivation required to be a high perfomance athlete.

NOTE: I'm not condoning doping, but refering to his other atributes (mental and physical) not related to doping.

+1

No doubt the troll brigade will throw in the usual anti Livestrong BS, but at the end of the day a lot of good has come from it and his efforts therein, and so what if he makes a small fortune out of it, we all profit from our labour and many profit from schemes they dreamed up doing stuff they can relate to while becoming richer / more successful

SwissVan. Loved your sense in this post. I for one am one of those who took up cycling in a more racing manner after reading his book. And personally, it has changed my life for the better. Had it not been for the Lance Armstrong era, I know I wouldnt be a healthier person who loves cycling.

The dude has done a lot for cancer awareness world wide. Show me 1 other individual who has done as much.

Guy is a legend. Leave him alone. Maybe he doped, maybe he didnt. Who actually cares?? This lynching is likely to do more damage to cycling than good.

One of the cool things about attending a LIVESTRONG Challenge is you never know who you might meet or what new friends you might make. So we’re very happy to tell you that at the Austin Challenge coming up on Sunday, Oct 21 you can ride with some of the best pro cyclists in the world from Team RadioShack Nissan Trek as we welcome:

Markel Irizar (cancer survivor, winner 2011 Ruta del Sol)

Tiago Machado (stage racing specialist)

Ben King (2010 US Pro Champ)

Matthew Busche (2011 US Pro Champ)

and arguably THE most popular rider in cycling today, Jens “Shut up Legs” Voigt!

In addition to these world class cyclists, some of the best up and coming riders from the very successful and aggressive Bontrager-LIVESTRONG team will also be saddling up:

Axel Merckx (Team Director)

Connor O’Leary (cancer survivor)

Joe Dombrowski

Lawson Craddock

This is a great opportunity to ride side by side with this amazing riders, and word is that you’ll be able to meet and greet them, too – I suggest you pay close attention to the Mellow Johnny’s web site – emails (just sayin’).

And how do you get to be out and about with the guys? It’s as simple as signing up for the ride, and at just $50 with no fundraising requirement, there’s no good reason not to join in on the fun! You can choose from distances of 18, 60, and 100 miles and then relax with a great after-ride party in the heart of downtown ATX! We look forward to welcome the boys to Austin, and hope you’ll be along for the ride as well.
