dead serious...gave it a try for one of my VG to breedts and back training sessions(100 od km's)...works very well. If you can get it into a lekker applicator bottle you are laughing. But like i said, I need to work through my current stash before using it again, by my calculations it will be 2031

i shall give it a bash ... also have mobil1 at home shall try that as well :)

I have tried all different lubes and some attracts dusts, others make black, wax one can damage jockey wheels, if not cleans properly.... I have not found best one yet! I prefer the one that does not turn black and attract dusts... Not sure which one is?

Keep in mind that automobile lubricants have a shelve life of 5years :whistling:

I use "GO Chain wax" from Bearing Man, works brilliantly, been very happy with it and the pricing was reasonable @ around R50 for a 120ml bottle and to be honest, 2 applications and you only need a small amount after each wash as a maintenance treatment.

Just checked with my local BM (Kdump) and they have a 500ml bottle for R160, might go and get some of this and try it.

If you going to use stuff like Castrol or whatever other motoroil to lube your chain then you mights as well not lube at all and run a dry chain .

Why? What is so special about a bicycle chain? Or are you just trolling.

I think using motor oil will just attract dust and dirt and create more of a grinding paste than a lube?

You already said it , "what is so special about a bike chain " . If you want to destroy it then put some oil on it that wil collect all the dust and stuff so you can have some nice grinding paste . Then a dry chain will be a better option . And yes I have run a chain on these lubes before .

Pieterg - How much lube do you use at a time and how often.

Because my 100 -150ml bottle lasts a long time. ( lubed after every wash and the night before a race)

No worse than wet or oil based lube(motorex...pedros...finishline wet), the function of lube is to surprise surprise...lubricate...not to keep the drivetrain clean. I don't think wax based or "dry" lubes do as a good a job as their oil based cousins.

So that means dry lube or nothing...yes?
