Fellow Pyga owners.

What's the process/steps to setup the rear shock,

What does the button/switch do with the hair and ... / moose ?

I see there is a air valve, so take thats for the compression, seem to remember Pyga wants the default sag to be 30%. How do I setup the rebound, turn the red dial behind above mentioned button/switch.

G

Choose the open setting on the monarch (blue lever)

Set sag at 30% (by pumping air into the valve)

Then set rebound. This will be your choice, but for me it's 3 clicks back from the rabbit. Just ride it until you find that floaty spot where the shock is sucking it up, but not pogo'ing you upwards.

Yeah, I wouldn't put an Evolution Series on a bike with this pedigree. Only Kashima models are really worth it, and at a huge premium. The Evo Float 29 on my previous bike was the worst fork I'd owned since the 90s.

Convince yourself to get a Pike. If you can't, get a Revelation, which is almost as good, or even an X-Fusion Trace or Sweep (both are really good as well).

I have heard of two guys running the Revelation RCT3 who have only had it on for a few months and say they have started getting a bit "sticky". Could this just be from dirt collecting? Or has it got to do with the fork?

OK, so additional input:

  • Consider a fully built Novatec wheelset if you can, they're surprisingly amazing and not ridiculously expensive. It will most likely be cheaper than to build up your own set of the same level anyway...
  • I'd go with a 2.35 HD on the front, 2.25 is fine for the rear. Note that HDs are not great on hardpack or loose-over-hardpack, but excellent in loamy stuff, so this all depends on where you mostly ride.
  • You should be able to get a 2x10 SLX setup pretty easily, for example here.
  • Headset: Many PYGA owners run Cane Creek's 40.
  • Stem: 70mm should be fine if you go with a 720 or 740mm bar, but this is all down to personal measurements. Some would recommend putting on a 760mm and running it with a 50 or 60mm stem. Either will work!
  • If your budget can stretch to a dropper, try to get one. I was a heathen up until recently but now fully believe that one can't exploit the capabilities of a bike like this without one.

Great, thanks for all of that! Huge help.

I'm mostly riding in Stellenbosch which is pretty loamy and rocky, except for a few trails which are a bit worn maybe. Do you still recommend HD's? Not sure if you have ridden in the Stellies area.

I'm 183cm, so ideally I might like to get a 60mm. I presume 760mm riser bars?

My birthday is coming up soon so I'm trying to hint at a dropper :whistling: .

I had a 2014 Revelation 130mm RCT3 which suddenly had only 80mm of travel left. Needed a complete new inner working so after I got it back I traded it with someone for a 140mm Pike. Beste decision I've ever made. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

I'm 84kgs

OK, so look below. The picture of the bunny & the turtle is for the rebound dial, which is maroon. The blue lever corresponds to the blue graphic below, so look at that. (illustration attached)

Pointing up towards your nuts is locked out, down to the left is open and down to the right is the climb/pedal setting.

Hi!

Question to the guys with Pygas.

At the moment 'n ride a Scott Genius 910 2014 (With the New Fox Nude shock).

It is my do all bike for XC, trail, marathon, district roads.

It weigh in just under 13kg with Stans, pedals ext. (ride ready)

I'am quite happy with the bike.

BUT I can not stop lusting for a PYGA OneTEN29!!

They are SOOOO DAMN NICE and Sexy! (Keeps me awake at night)

I'm not a weight weeny (don't need a 10kg bike) but I do a lot of 4-hour plus rides.

What does your PYGA ONETEN29 weigh ? (Large frame)

Will I be under 13kg for a large frame with XT build & brakes and a Stans Arch wheelset?

Hi Pip's

Ok, so as per the picture, my shock had the blue also at that position, I've now move it 60degrees up. looking at it clockwise.

The rebound, I've done all close and 3 clicks clockwise,

Felt more plush for me, I'm on 65kg,

Recommendations?

I have a large with XT drive train (2x10) but SLX brakes, Arch EX wheels on DT Swiss 350 hubs, a RS Revelation RCT3 Dual Air 20mm Maxle fork, Truvative T30 riser bars, Raceface turbine seat post, and it comes in just over 13Kg ready to ride. When I built it, I was hoping to get closer to 12.5Kg - I think the extra weight is in the wheelset and finishing kit.

12.1 KG

I don't think any pyga owners will confess to the frame weight. Hehe ;)
