Not sure if those model of Mavics use the same freehub as the CrossRides, but I've had some issues with the freehub on mine (CrossRide). There is a bushing that wears out and causes a 'howling' noise when coasting. You just need to keep an eye on them and do regular maintenance (keep the insides clean and use special oil to keep it lubricated) to avoid that issue. Other than that I'm quite happy with my Mavics.

The Mavics are lighter I believe...

The weight difference is a couple grams between the Crossmax SLR's and the SL's. (26" size).

So I would recommend the SL's as they are alot cheaper.

On the other hand, EA90 XC's are super sexy...........

It's through ChainReaction, so you can have a look there, they have quite nice specials on the Eastons at the moment.

Are the havens to heavier, I do mainly Cross Country?

not that much heavier at all. The V has built his PYGA Zero 29 up with them and the build is light. Fantastic wheels. Bombproof as well.
