Vandals at work on Table Mountain. Why did you do this?

I am sure a lot of you will have seen the big green gate at the end of Tafelberg Rd, ripped apart with the extensive damage to the stonework as well.

The boom where the road is closed off was also vandalised and replaced with a chain.

The concrete bench at the end of Tafelberg road also disappeared, until my wife discovered it, dumped into the overflow of the second pond on the road.

I spoke to San Parks this morning and they are not sure when it happened .

To those who did this. What was the point? You were perhaps adult before you did this, but now i would put you down with the crap that sticks to the soles of my shoe. I hope we find you.

Looks more like someone drove into it at night.Bit difficult to just vandalise someting like that??

To me it looks like it has been pulled. Similar methods adopted at CWC some time ago and fast becoming the nom with any gate security. Tie the gate to a vehicle and go! Amazing how the old stone wall stood it's ground.

Nobody can access that area with a vehicke without a key to get through the boom on Tafelberg Road. I think it was done by several people (possibly stupid drugheads) swinging on the old gates and forcing them open. I noticed they were badly bent out of shape.

I agree, this type of behavior is so unnecessary. Up here in JHB area, I'd kill for that type of "untouched" space to ride in. All this serves to do is ensure that at some point, the parks people are just going to say no more visitors. They ruin it for everyone.

 

Looks like they also just dumped their unwanted old bike there as well. The litter just adds insult to injury

Very little we can do to stop this.
