Thoughts on the Ka-Bar TDI?

Great self-defense knife, just make sure you get one with a retention clip thingy on the sheaf otherwise you will lose it.

And if you are left handed and carry reversed, have a sheath custom made for this one do not accommodate lefties.

I suppose you are referring to the sheath.

The retention clip works on the principal of push and pull.  If you carry like I do and on the left side, the retention clip will be sitting next to your body.

You will have to push the knife handle into your side to release it from the sheath. This maneuver is rather painful. Wearing a few pieces of clothing and it becomes very difficult to release the knife.

I bought mine in 2011 and they may have changed the sheathing to accommodate lefties, I may be wrong but looking at the picture it doesn’t seem so.

Yes, big is intimidating but if you know how to use the instrument then size really doesn’t matter. Look at the guy on the left, that damage was caused by a simple carpet knife with a blade length of no more than 4cm!

You wont be the one trying to rob him...

might just be a snotkop laaitie trying his luck...?

It's not the size, it's the absurd curve in that handle.

Even Cold Steel made their AK 47 in a smaller version, but that is a proper defense knife .

The knife show was more like a market, but some really nice pieces

Then they also had these chest ones that would work well for cyclists on their bikes - small out of the way with easy draw action.
