Any recommendations for an amp for a desktop setup. Just need to power 5" speaker. Nothing amazing just need to be good. Also assume a USB DAC is a good idea?

Upgraded my home theater system speakers with some new shiny copper Klipsch.

Very nice indeed.

I assume when you run your turntable that you use your amp in pure stereo mode to turn off the sub-woofer and centre channel, otherwise when rocking at high volumes won't the needle jump ?

Yeah...only run the sub and centre for movies.Vinyl and cd's are in stereo.

Yeah...definitely bangs pretty well.Very impressed that it sounds as good in my lounge as it did in the listening room [emoji106]

Hope this one is queued to break in those drivers?

Btw, are you a fan of high efficiency speakers? ~97dB sensitivity will make you favorites with the neighbours!

I wasn’t really but all my speakers before needed power to perform. That meant my amps were always hot.Guys at the shop explained the dB sensitivity to me and will probably now stay with high dB speakers.

The Mrs is working from home and been complaining about the “noise”.[emoji15][emoji85][emoji1787]

Private Investigations by Dire Straits is a great reference track to compare audio systems !

Need some advice with the subwoofer setting.

Anyone know if adjusting this will give better bass?

Factory setting has it like this.

The problem is this word "better."

That could mean many things to many people, but the only instrument you have at hand is your own ears. So trial and error.

I tended to have less bass response than factory settings as I only wanted to fill in the sound, and not make the house shake. Most movies overdo the low sound effects to my ears.

Same here.

At the moment it’s loud and thunderous which is great for movies.

Want it to fill and a bit tighter for music.

Which ones should I move down then?

Only way to reliably set up a sub is with in room response measurement.Check out REW if you want to go down the rabbit hole.

Your AVR should have a setup mic that gets you halfway there sorting out the EQ.

Placement is important and no regard should be had for your wife's decor arrangements.

From there on you can play with EQ, otherwise it'll never give you the best results.
