I HUGGED 3 roadies this morning

Not just the cyclist, again this morning I had to move into the next lane as a stream of runners running 3 a breast running towards me in my lane. They don't even acknowledge seeing me by moving over or attempting to move over or even say thank you for not mowing them down like skittles. I could get at least 10 of them in 20m. Pity I don't have a bull bar. Must order one.

I commute to work on the bike quite often so I know what the roads can be like, so if I get the chance I ride off the road or right on the edge of it. I also put reflecting tape on my bike (oh no may ruin the look of the bike) to make myself as visible as possible. Those "Pro wanna be" roadies to me are just taking chances with their own lives. This is not to say i don't make mistakes while commuting, but at least I try to be safe and pre empt the drivers. Drivers don't watch as much as they should (texting, taking photo's, picking their nose)........ Yes I am also guilty of texting and driving like most of us.

Aaaaah got it off my chest now people can just be stooooooopid at times.

In this instance, enough space for car to pass safely, no danger to anyone, no problem.

Cyclists would most likely have single filed when they heard the car, out of courtesy giving the car more space.

Cyclists have a right to cycle to, not just the 1/2m on the edge of the road.

Chill and be more accommodating

High Speeds? barely doing 25 there.

Just ignore Oom, just hope you were holding the steering wheel with your knees when you were holding the camera.

Had a similar experience about a month ago. 2 roadies cycling up Riviera Road in the MIDDLE of the road, in peak hour traffic. They ignored the cars and caused major drama with the drivers. Really not cool. This type of attitudes that causes drivers to take it out on the rest of us.

I don't think it is about rules and cyclist being allowed to use up the whole road. I think they should out of their own safety ride to the side because we know what attitude a lot of motorist have towards cyclist as in what @mvrooyen was saying. There is a lot of road rage in this country sadly so why put yourself in more danger.

Some of the guys joke and think it's nothing to ride side by side.... But just yesterday, while driving down Voortrekker Rd in CT, I saw cyclist covered with a white, blood stained sheet. He died on impact by the looks of it. Cops were diverting cars around the body.

Whether OP's was wrong or right, a little common sense goes a long way.

They should be on MTBs, off the road.

Ok, maybe I didnt explain my pain with this photo:

These 3 where totally unaware of myself, and cars that went past them before I took the photo.

Down the road, they continued their formation.

**breathe out**

Please stop saying it was safe to pass, if you have a look at the photo, there's another road coming in, and if I passed them, I could have been in front of another car coming out there.

I think the roadies weren't too bad to be honest, but if you do see them again and feel the urge to knock them over please do so properly and smash them through that wall and then into that tasteless 'Tuscan' <spit> monstrosity of a building. I can deal with Jo'burg's roadies but Jo'burg's pseudo-Tuscan buildings offend him no end.

Don't even get me started on Monte Casino - hey maybe you should take out the whole Cycle Lab bunch one morning as they ride past that monument to low-class taste?

it really doesnt matter if its a busy road or not. all it takes is that one instance where there is an oncoming car and you going past and things could get ugly.

and for all you tjops complaining about him taking a pic i bet all of you talk on your phones while driving, speed and probably dont wear a seat belt either.

those cyclists should not have been 3 up
