There was an incident about 2 years ago when a motorist ploughed his way through a huge group of motorcyclists during a Toy Run......

What chance will 200 cyclists have on the N2 with a speed limit of 120km/h?

I am all for a "critical mass" ride and have previously stated so on this forum.I suggest you involve/contact the various clubs like Masters & Ladies,Fattracks,Wayne Pheiffer etc.

A possible ride could be from the Pier,up Walmer Boulevard, turn right into William Moffat, turn left onto the N2,turn off at the Seaview offramp, turn left at Cows corner along Kragga Kamma, right into Circular drive, making your way to Buffelsfontein and all the way back to the pier.

I think it would be important to include some of the roads that cyclists regularly use.

Another possible ride could be from the pier up Heugh/Buffelsfontein to Seaview and back (maybe down to Schoenies and back along the coastal road)

I am a Masters/Ladies committee member and am willing to assist and join the ride.

If the goal is to draw attention to the challenges which we all face when we on our bikes then I am in. If it is going to piss the motorists off even more then we must reconsider as to how we are going to do it.

The constant mud slinging between motorist and cyclist will never go away. All we can do is to try and educate the non cycling public as well as our fellow cyclist as we are often our own worst enemy.

Thanks Selous scout and Majestic for your response

This is why I have started this page to get feedback like this. I agree thAt we should not piss the motorist off any further but we do need to also get a point thru that we can all share the roads together responsibly

Peter it won't be on the highway.

Don't stress we not doing this to endanger our lives

I was just responding to a suggestion that it be held on the freeway.Having been run over by motorists twice, I am certainly keen to join, as it is definitely neccessary to raise awareness of cyclists on the roads.

Why not try to get hold of Michael Zoetmulder at Zports? He is great with organising events and if there is a further incentive, ie something going to charity, he should be more than willing to help and should be able to get the traffic department involved as well.

He has a very busy schedule over the next couple of weeks if you look at all the events he is organising, but it is worth a shot.
