PYGA vs SPECIALIZED epic

Spez in my opinion would retain better value than the PYGA...Don't stone me for it!

Wouldn't stone you but would disagree.

For two reasons, neither of which have to do with the quality of the bike:

1. Pyga bikes are bought as frames and built up from there. So in the unlikely event that you want to sell it, you can sell the frame and move your components onto another build. If the frame is in good nick you can get a good price for it. Specialised are typically sold as complete bikes with all sorts of house brand components which generally tend to get sold with the bike. When was the last time you saw an s-works frame only in the classifieds?

2. Specialized tweaks the model and comes up with the a new one every year. It works. A colleague of mine has bought and sold his s-works Epic for the new model every year for the last 3 years. He can't help himself. But every time they do that the one you have is not the latest any more and that straight away chops another 10 - 20% off it's value. The Pyga oneten 29er from 2012 is the same as the 2014 so it's still the latest model.

... and regarding 2nd hand value, it depends on who the buyer is. I know lots of people that are intimidated by all the different brands and groupset options. For those people, they are more likely to go for the safe bet with the best known name, which is the speshy.

The taxi yellow is the Pascoe which is based on the Onetwenty650 frame.

The OneTen29's is a lump type of green now.

Could someone PLEASE buy me a PYGA. ONETEN29 in taxi yellow please. Oh, and slightly bigger than XL. Thank you in advance. ;-)

I know.... But that makes me so sad. I even asked them to make me a special one... They said no.

PYGA is not for the Specialised type. The latter will likely drive a BMW and sit behind a desk telling other people what to do and then crap on them for doing what they were told.

The PYGA rider is a confident self starter, with an appreciation for real quality.

More than likley has a Rotel or McLaren sound system at home as opposed to the Spec riders NAD.

Likely drives a VAG product, and does'nt have a dog named Bella

Haha, these character sketches are always entertaining.

I'm a PYGA fan, but I do drive a BMW. Enthusiastic BMW drivers own their machines for a very specific reason, and it's strangely similar to the reason I own my PYGA... There is something very definite about the steering weighting, damping and body-roll characteristics of my 1er which gives me the same smile I experience when bombing down a gnarly piece of singletrack on my Oneten29.

Oh, and on the sound front, I'm partial to Marantz and Boston. At the moment, I'm powering my Bostons with a Pioneer, which I can't say I'm unhappy with, but I would prefer a good Marantz setup if I was going to plow a bit more cash into it

Mine needs a service. Old-ish (11 years) PM7200 stereo amp powering some Jamo floorstanders. Seems as if the amp needs to warm up a bit, as when it's switched on it crackles a LOT.

Need to take it in to have it checked out. Funny thing is that muting/unmuting clears it for a while.

Old-ish? Pfffttt. I had a 29yr old one which I gave away last year, the one channel blew and seeing as I'm more into home theatre I didn't have any use for it. A Marantz enthusiast came by my office to pick it up, he was super chuffed!

You have to bear in mind that I'm only 31. So its more than 33% as old as I am. Hence - oldish

There is a reason you see guys winning races with Epics :D

That reminds me of the Swiss team in Cool Runnings... If they met a pretty girl, they'd count to three and try push her down the hill.

You don't see people having fun on an epic...

Off topic, or should I say, further off topic.

My wife says the BMW 1 series coupe is feminine when I say I want to get one, but wot do women know about cars anyway. That 135 is an absolute thing of beauty.

Marantz paired with some nice B&W's.

Can't go wrong.
