Where do I get hold of the Racetec guys? I'm one of the legit A7 guys who did the whole 55km. I would like my results to be acknowleged in order to get a better seeding for next year. Know they sit with a dilemma which probably will never be able to be resolved 100% and also probably not their fault but rather the officials who cut the route short but I travelled far to participate and paid my dues.

Not Racetec's issue. You should address it to the race organisers at the race office.

The one guy (in blue toyota kit) crashed off the inside toward the end of that wooden 'bridge' we rode along. He was shouting "AMBULANCE, i need an ambulance...!!!" and clutching his forearm. I thought "shees aren't you over exaggerating a bit...?". Then he turned and faced my direction and i saw what his pain was about. Both his radius and ulna bones had snapped clean off at the wrist and were sticking completely out of his flesh, in the area where one would take their pulse, with his hand bent completely back, as if it could have just fallen off had it not been for muscle, skin, tendons and ligaments holding it on.

It actually totally rattled me. Most disturbing thing i've seen since I've been riding bikes. I'm not squeemish but i felt sick. I got closer to that green scaffold bridge and started questioning if i should just unclip and walk over it, then straight to my van n go home n take up chess rather.

I hope he heals up quickly and has proper use of his hand ASAP.

That was my cycling partner although I was in front of him and only found out after the race about his fall. He shattered the bones in his wrist and apparently it took the medics over half an hour to get the right attention to him!!! EPIC FAIL from the organisers!!!!

Fortunately enough he went into surgery and the docs were able to save his hand. He is now in good spirits and extremely grateful that he still has his hand as the surgeons said he was close to losing it, given the damage.

Oh thank goodness...! I knew it was bad when i saw it. I even said to my riding partner that he's going to need heavy surgery to fix that n that i hope they can save it.

I shouted to a photographer to get a medic to him FAST, just looked at me n kept snapping pix...

Glad he's ok..!

Its like a new bike- he must now post his pre- and post XRay on the hub. Could be a nice thread - pics of Xrays and war wounds. Hope he heals quickly and completely. Is it his dominant hand? If so he will soon learn how hard it is to shave with the wrong hand.

So, not having done any races other than last year and this year MTB fun ride,

How does this route compare to say a Nissan 40km race?

Climbs, etc, can't call what we did any form of technical anyhow so lets ignore that.

Holy ****... i was right behind the younger guy (1st crash victim) who crashed and almost came off myself as we skidded on the planks to avoid him. Then 500m later the next chap in front of me hit a rock and took a tumble and dislocated his sholder.... sounds like that area was a war zone of injured people?

Yeah, that was me who hit the rock and went over my handlebars. I didn't even see the rock because I was so close to the guy in front of me. I was riding and the next thing I know I was tumbling on the floor. I stood up, immediately grabbed my right shoulder and felt my clavicle sticking out. Four other riders hit the same rock while I was picking up my things. I cycled back to the start and medics and they took me to hospital.

The guy with the broken wrist was in the ambulance with me. Man, he was in pain. He was also next to me in the ER. I hope he is ok.

I dislocated the AC joint in my shoulder and I'm having an op on Monday to re-build all the shattered ligaments. No riding for 3 months...eeeek!
