There were quite a few who overcooked some of the sharper corners from what I saw in A1 group, with quite a few hobbling back. Finished 2:37 after taking quite a big wrong turn just before the last river crossing, which probably cost about 4 - 5 mins. Hope to repeat that time on the road race.

I saw two guys goiing off the wooden bridge/ track right in the beginning- glad I am not that quick

That was my wife. She has an extremely high pain threshold! So proud of her!

Well done to her I would also be proud.

Started MTB in January. Great sport. Wish I started at younger age. This was my first 94.7, started in A7 batch but pushed hard. We were 4 that took of quite fast. Believe I may have ended among the first 3 of A7 batch with a time around 2h55. Found it difficult to ride much harder with all the slower riders to pass. It drained a lot of energy to pass a lot of those guys. Personally - very chapped with myself.

Well done. Race more and get a better seeding!

I've heard there is a special medal for those who complete the full MTB race and the 94.7 Road race, is this true?

I know you get a green number for the road race if you completed the 55km MTB race!

I have seen prize winners DQ'ed for riding sleeveless (a lady nogal), very stupid! A shirtsleeve is no protection!!! They are fooling themselves. Ipods are banned but there was a guy riding with some sort of music player in his backpack. Still couldnt hear me asking for track.

There was a youngish guy on a Merida (rust color) with earphones in his ear, I gave the "passing on the right" heads up a few times as we swapped positions during the race and he didn't hear me.

I suggested he at least turned the volume down and he just said something along the lines of "whatever". In hind sight, I probably should have stopped and pulled his shirt sleeves off. He may have incurred more wrath from the organizers than he did due to the music.

Off topic but I am getting very gatvol of the UCI/CSA and some of their stupid rules . Was told that a shirt without sleeves are not really acceptable . I only had two words for the chap and the second one was "off" .

You shouldn't hate on the guy who is just doing his job.

Remember, it was YOU that signed to abide by the rules, no matter how stupid you think they are.

Bit of a catch 22.

If you don't sign you don't ride.

So even though the conservatives made the rule and it has no relevance on the safety of the other riders, the sleeveless crowd are being "raped" into agreement.

(I don't do the sleeveless thing, just for trivia) thumbup1.gif

Still not sure how this works, I did the 55km and the road ride last year and got nothing special. No extra medal, no green number sad.pngsad.pngsad.png

Not even a pat on the back... sniff sniff

What does the rules say about riding with someone else's timing chip? What is the race commissaire doing about that? The problem here is the same problem we have at the UCI. The folks in charge are totally out of touch with what is going on in the sport. Reminds me of the days when you had to play golf in long socks. Took them about 5 years to sort that out.

I have no beef with the guy doiing his job ( if he applies all rules). My point is it is a stupid rule with no basis. The rule about music I agree with. Not fully enforced though. Worst is I really didn't like his music.

I agree that the rules need to be enforced, however stupid they are. However, the guy I passed with the earphones in his ear passed a number of marshalls (I was there when he rode past them). I also say more than one guy with a GoPro on his helmet (it was announced at the start that they were only allowed on handlebars).

So, the question here is, why were they selectively enforcing the rules?

On the cut off shirt sleeves issue, I see in the official 94.7 event magazine that Momentum's official event wear (produced by First Ascent) includes some sleeveless versions. Now the first time I became aware of this rule was on this topic, today. The same magazine also has a picture (of last year's race) where the primary subject matter of said pic, a very pretty lady, is also going sleeveless.

Now ignorance is no defense, but surely the organizers should not appear to advocate breaking of the rules? Probably a petty point, but then so are some of the rules.

Agree fully, if the race winner rode with someone else's chip, disqualify him, no exceptions.
